Activist and Advocate Alim Howell met with Upper Darby Township Councilman David G. Bantoe to discuss the illegal activity that is happening across Upper Darby. The meeting was on Friday September 27th located at the Councilman’s District Office at 436 Long Lane Upper Darby.

There has been a surge of dealings with illegal substances and armed robberies recently that have come to the councilman’s attention to motivate changes and conduct this meeting.

Bantoe is Upper Darby’s sixth district council member. Committees the councilman represents are Public Safety-Chair, Planning, Zoning, and Building Code, Public Health and Environmental Affairs, and Community Engagement.

The main topics of discussion where constituents of Upper Darby have to work together to keep businesses, homes, schools, churches, and streets clean and safe. Obtaining more of a community-oriented environment. Looking out for the youth, adults, and seniors altogether.

ANIMAL FRIENDS OF LANSDOWNE
Merlyn Needs a Meowvelous Home

Handsome Merlyn was found by kind residents, stuck, starving, and in poor condition. He’s a sweet Siamese boy who deserves so much better! He was traumatized then moved around a few times, so he takes a little while to adjust, understandably learning to trust again with each move. He’s lived in foster homes with (and tolerated) other cats and dogs, but he would much rather stick to himself and curl up on a bed with his person. Though a bit large for your lap and not a big fan of many toys, Merlyn is a happy little couch potato who comes looking for love and wants nothing more than to be near you, and he’s fairly quiet for a Siamese, except at feeding time! Merlyn’s estimated date of birth is 2017. He is neutered, had a dental cleaning, tested negative, is microchipped, has had his shots, and is decompressing nicely from his prior trauma. Now all he needs is his very own human who promises to love him and be the recipient of his devotion. Could this be you?
Please note: a higher than usual adoption fee will be charged for this cat, only local adopters from the Delaware Valley will be considered.

Cat Nook Café
Lindy Has Lots of Love to Give
Yes, Lindy would love to be your forever! She’s a very sweet and polite cat that loves to follow her foster mom around the house.
When it’s time for work, she can be found perched next to the computer, happy and content as can be.
She’s quite confident and not at all timid. This beautiful tabby is ready and waiting for you! She is so playful and sweet.
Lindy is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV/HW, and microchipped. Adopters with a previous annual veterinary history preferred.

Dana Killion’s Where The Shadow Dance is a memoir of a woman married to an alcoholic. It took her years to recognize his addiction since he always denied it. After all, he went to work every day and earned a good living, how could he be an alcoholic?
At first, she tried the usual: AA, therapy, rehab but even as she continued to urge him to get help, he refused. She writes about the anger, the guilt, the frustration and the emptiness of her life. They separated a few times but she always took him back. Eventually the sadness and the numbness overtook her. She fought with herself before she was ready to let go.
She needed space so she moved to Florida to stay with her father until she found her own space. She soon realized that her father needed help and turned into a caregiver once again. Her father was not an easy man to live with and he constantly belittled her. Finally, finally she was able to gather her self esteem and begin a new life in Tucson.
Where The Shadows Dance is a gut wrenching look at life with an alcohol addict. Alcohol does not just affect the user. It leaches into every aspect of life: family, friends, work, and faith. Dana Killion has exposed her life and her struggles in the hope that someone else reading it might recognize themselves and take action sooner than she did. I applaud her courage.
Dana Killion grew up in Wisconsin and in her early years, she found inspiration in the activities of Nancy Drew. She currently lives in Tucson, Arizona with her cat, Isabel.
Where The Shadows Dance is published by Amplify Publishing Group and available from Amazon.com.
