Fire Season 2023 has been slow to cook off. Things seem to be heating up now in the Northwest. We got dispatched to Shelton WA on the Fourth of July to fight a 300acre fire with close proximity to a lot of my friends homes. It was pretty surreal to fight fire over an area I’ve spent so much time in.

Fire season in Alaska is coming to a close, bittersweet to leave a place I was just starting to get used to. I will miss the midnight sun, however I am looking forward to getting back to the lower 48 for the rest of summer. Huge thanks to for shipping up some spare parts for my Zulu H mod helmet comms when I was in desperate need right at the peak of the season.

It’s been a busy winter getting checked out in the FireBoss and all the associated training that goes along with becoming an aerial fire fighter with . I still managed to sneak in some time for fun flying and some memorable trips with friends and loved ones. Now that the fire season is kicking off I get to say bye to my free time and hello to putting these new skills to work.

Born to Fly

I was born into Aviation, Both of my Grandfathers were pilots and my father was a fighter pilot. Growing up around airplanes instilled that dream of flight into me from an early age. When i was 17 i joined the USAF as a Forward Air Control operator. At the same time i started skydiving. After controlling airstrikes in Iraq in 2003 i left the military to pursue professional skydiving. 11,000 skydives later and numerous championships i shifted gears and have been pursing flying the airplane currently holding a Commercial Single engine land Instrument rating.
