BLF Press was founded by Stephanie Andrea Allen, writer, publisher, lover of words. Our goal for this press is to continue the tradition of small feminist presses that gave rise to such publications as This Bridge Across My Back: Writings of Radical Women of Color, Home Girls: A Black Feminist Anthology, Don't Explain, Loving Her, and Sister Outsider: Essays. A lofty goal for sure, but I believe t

hat the legacy the authors and publishers of these works left was the desire to create a space for forward thinking, creative women. They embraced difference, and created an outlet for the expression of various types of love that amplified the experiences of women of color in the United States. Their work inspired a generation of women, including myself. I hope to honor them with this humble attempt to continue their legacy.
