Early in my career I went to a boss of mine and told him that I wanted to become a reporter. The first thing out of his crusty mouth was that my hair was "too natural" and that other characteristics about me "would scare the viewers." At that moment I realized that showing up as your authentic self would be a challenge but carry great reward. Shortly after that comment was made, YES he was fired for that and many other things. While those words truly had me down for a while I remembered who I was and the talent I possessed. I left that job and found an opportunity where my boss was excited to know that I wanted to rock my afro, twists, and sometimes a high-top fade. Once I confidently popped up on camera with my hair the way I wanted, the viewers took to me in ways I couldn't imagine, and from that point forward I promised myself IMMA BE ME... IN ALL WAYS EVERY DAY!!! My hair is just one way I do that. *REMEMBER NATURAL HAIR IS PROFESSIONAL HAIR AND DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE.*
