Congratulations to all student athletes who were recognized and honored for their participation and accomplishments in spring sports at St. Bernard Prep! The memories shared during the event expressed gratitude and love for not only teammates but coaches, monks, and parents too! Special congratulations to Cole Bissot for winning the prestigious Fr. Luke Fazi Athletic Award!

If you were on campus this morning and wondered about the small commotion near the Grotto parking lot, it was this girl (a common snapping turtle) who had decided to do her morning warmup in the middle of the inbound lane. One of many things that make our campus special is our proximity to so much of the natural beauty of God’s creation.

Thanks to SRO Billy James for making sure this little lady was safe until she got off the road and on her way.

Today students are participating in a mock trial in Mr. Shaddrix’s Introduction to the Law Class. This class is given a trial with all of its evidence, and students create their own arguments, questions, and line of reasoning. Additionally, a jury is composed of other students who will decide if the defendant is guilty or innocent.

Today we thought we'd try something new: ! This week we're highlighting the China Rose, which can be found in at least three locations on our campus.

Did you know that China Rose has a fascinating history that connects China, France, and Malaysia?

This rose is native to China and is the ancestor of many modern roses. It was brought to the US by French immigrants in Louisiana, who called it “rose de la Chine”. It was also painted by Pierre-Joseph Redouté, a French artist who worked for Marie Antoinette and helped many priests and nuns escape death during the French Revolution. He was honored by several popes for his art and science. In Malaysia, this rose is the national flower and symbolizes courage, strength, and love.

What a beautiful and meaningful rose to have on our campus!
