The Queercast Created Aug 2013: We cover issues from a systems perspective, often based on themes not addressed by mainstream media.

Our ideas are meant to be challenged and interrogated. To facilitate that dialogue I am attempting to employ nonviolent communication. This is a media project showcasing the diverse stories/voices of LGBTQ+ community and addressing this and many other societies addicted to material power impacting all communities across the world. This is a power acquired from exploitative, environmentally destruc

tive surplus (agricultural) production and resource extraction (hoarding). One of the first impacts of these practices was the exponential growth of world population. They also created other systems of exponential growth including: our rates of technological advancement, consumption, resource extraction and the burning of fossil fuels. These systems interact and build on each other to create global warming, another exponential growth system. That warming also fuels the rise and spread of new and old pathogens, particularly through the mass migration of people using newer and faster modes of transportation, and the migration of other life on this planet. These are just a few of the transmission vectors for such pathogens. While some may believe these problems are too enormous and/or too wired into our collective conscious/unconscious, we do not. These changes have also fueled a paradigm change impacting the entire world. Covid and the diversity seen in mass media are just some of the evidence of that change. Our wealthy and corporate elite along with powerful politicians and leaders who depend on the systems that support our addiction are unlikely to understand what has happened nor will they likely know how to navigate this new paradigm because old/past ideas, values, and strategies are unlikely to work. That is possibly the reason for so much chaos including the rise in extremism. It also explains the illogical and even self-defeating power grabs by both the Republicans (GOP), and even some in the Democratic parties. That is because both receive monetary support and influence from the same sources. However, it also means a rise in individuals who will or have experienced a crisis impacting their consciousness, perception and vision of the world. That will lead to breakthroughs in thinking, in areas of study and social patterns/habits, to ideas that may help us mitigate or ride out the coming crises. This is a time of great change, but likely for the better than worse. That is because those unable to or who refuse to acknowledge this new and changing world are unlikely to adapt to it. Our complex, ecological systems in particular, will not wait for these persons to change, just like other maladaptive traits in species throughout evolutionary history. This is the type of coverage you are likely to find on this page.

Our Story

"Getting to the Heart of Queerness"

This page is a project first developed out of my desire to share ideas on various issues that I feel are missed by mainstream media and lacking from our present awareness. It was also a tool for me to engage with people after being disabled for the past 13 years. I used it to help me address the limiting conditions of my disability, including daily pain and isolation.

Now I know those conditions were exactly what I needed.

Everything is changing now, and with those changes come new (or rather old) insights that I feel are absolutely necessary for our society to survive the coming crisis with Global Warming.
