Today is September 11th, Patriot Day. Never Forget. 🇺🇸

21 years ago, on September 11th, 2001, four commercial airliners traveling from the northeastern United States to California were hijacked mid-flight by 19 Islamic extremists. The hijackers were organized into three groups of five hijackers and one group of four. Each group had one hijacker who had received flight training and took over control of the aircraft. The explicit goal of these terrorists was to crash each plane into a prominent American building, causing mass casualties and partial or complete destruction of the targeted buildings.

The first plane to hit its target was American Airlines Flight 11. It was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan at 8:46am. Seventeen minutes later at 9:03am, the World Trade Center's South Tower was hit by United Airlines Flight 175. Both 110-story towers collapsed within an hour and forty-two minutes killing thousands, and significantly damaging surrounding buildings.

A third flight, American Airlines Flight 77, flown from Dulles International Airport, was hijacked over Ohio. At 9:37am, it crashed into the west side of the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, causing a partial collapse of the building's side killing 189 people. The fourth, and final flight, United Airlines Flight 93, was flown in the direction of Washington, D.C. This flight was the only plane not to hit its intended target, instead crashing in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03am. The plane's passengers attempted to regain control of the aircraft away from the terrorists and ultimately diverted the flight from its intended target, the White House or the U.S. Capitol, costing the lives of all 44 passengers aboard.

In addition to the $10 billion dollars in infrastructure and property damage, the attacks resulted in 2,977 fatalities, over 25,000 injuries, and substantial long-term health consequences. It remains the deadliest terrorist attack in human history and the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States, with 340 and 72 killed, respectively.

It was troubling waking up to the news of a friend passing. Greg Hom meant so much to so many. I remember first meeting him at Airsoft Extreme's San Jose location, when he noticed I was checking out the Medicom Stormtroopers in the corner detolf, walked up and we just started shooting the s**t over how fragile they were. Personally, I'll miss the late night chats over bouts of insomnia, giving thoughtful, meaningful advice from a LEO's perspective, or just laughing about internet idiots and fanboying over Star Wars. Even moreso over The Mandalorian. I'll miss ya, big guy... we'll all miss ya.

We here at The NAM: National Airsoft Magazine would like to wish each and every one of you a fun, safe and Happy Halloween! Please remember to check your candy, don't drive inebriated (or with someone who is), and leave the airsoft guns at home... unless you're attending a Halloween airsoft event. And if that's the case, give 'em hell! 😈

More proof common sense ain't all that common, anymore. Don't do what this father/son did. Ever. Hopefully the homeowner doesn't face any charges (although the father/son probably should). It doesn't get much dumber than this, folks. 🤦‍♂️

Police say a 10-year-old boy approached his father with an unusual request: Could he take him to do a drive-by shooting in Opa-locka with a paint gun? The father, 26-year-old Michael Williams, agreed, detectives say.

Our Story

Having played the sport of airsoft for several years (simulated combat scenarios utilizing real equipment and realistic, plastic projectile-firing airguns), we noticed a lack of information and publications regarding the genre. In January of 2004, after discussing the idea of creating a publication with fellow friends in the sport, Alex “Howitzer” Alvarez, Milo “Storm” Dodds, Josh “Zorro” Arellano, his father-in-law and his loving wife, William “Reaper” Durham decided it was time to put his penchant for writing and background in graphic arts to good use. This motley crew filled the void by creating a source for airsofters worldwide in the form of an underground magazine for airsofters by airsofters. Just a few months later, on March 17th, 2004, the very first issue of The NAM: National Airsoft Magazine was independently published.

The NAM: National Airsoft Magazine grew fast and now has the benefit of having the LARGEST, OLDEST and MOST ESTABLISHED READER BASE of any current English language airsoft magazine in print circulation today. Our national audience has crossed the nation from Hawaii to Maine and from Florida, to Alaska, comprising of sales in ALL 50 states. International audience includes countries such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, The Philippines, UK, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan and more!

As far as the publication itself, we offer several enticing columns, detailed “how-to” sections and honest product reviews. Our promise to the readers is a 100% unbiased magazine covering every aspect of the sport that we can fit into each and every issue. We set the standard and continually up the bar to ensure our readers get the most for their money, never sacrificing quality or content for superficial "FLASH." Every single issue is available for FREE digital download. Just visit our website: http://www.nammag.com
