“Any time you take the field, you have to ultimately respect this game.” Talked about their focus on the process.

On Leonard Williams:
“He’s playing lights out, he’s a game wrecker, week in week out.” Said he was surprised he’s not in the Pro Bowl.

“For Spoon to get recognition for the way he plays the game, it’s heartwarming.”

After 1st year as a DC:
“I’m probably way more patient. Way more comfortable with the things I don’t know sometimes.” Said it was a good year.

RYAN GRUBB PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES 📝:
“Obviously last week was disappointing, what we did. Defense played great. I think it’s more about focusing on us and the things we’ve got to do to try to produce better on 3rd down and keep ourselves on the field and give ourselves the chance to get explosive plays.”

Says the biggest change he’s had is understanding how to tailor the team’s system around the players.

Says Sataoa Laumea has done enough to have an opportunity to be a starter next season.

Talked about how he would evaluate his year. “For me, it’s how do we get better on 3rd down and do a better job in the redzone, all the things we clearly have to do better.” Says there’s things he’s proud of and to build off of.

Says the running game has a long way to go, but the most important thing is having consistency at the start of next season.

On Geno Smith:
“I’m proud of Geno. I think he’s battled. I think he’s had an incredible season. I know there’s probably a lot of things he’s proud of and some things he’s disappointed in just like everybody.”

DEVON WITHERSPOON PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES 📝:
Says Mike told him yesterday he made the Prow Bowl. “It’s special when the game recognizes who you are.”

“My teammates made this come alive, not just me.”

Said it means a lot to be able to play every game throughout the season.

Credited Mike Macdonald for how well the defense has been playing throughout the season. “His game plan that he would lay out for us and we just went out there and executed it and brought it to life.”

On lack of takeaways:
“I think that’s more so on us than anything else.”

“I think our confidence next year is gonna be through the roof.”

TYLER LOCKETT PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES 📝:
On JSN breaking his record:
“Records are meant to be broken.” Talked about beating his dad’s records in football and how the game has changed throughout the years.

Says he plans on playing next year but is uncertain of where. “I’m not the GM buddy, I can’t make that decision.”

Says his biggest contribution to the team this season has been his sacrifice. “I think the whole season has been sacrifice. And it’s sacrifice for the betterment of the team, the betterment of other players, for a lot of different stuff.”

Said it’s weird playing a game that doesn’t have any playoff implications. “Everybody wants to play for that Super Bowl, but there’s also something else that has to keep you going when that can’t be in reach.” Says he’s playing for his faith.

Says it felt incredible to win the Steve Largent award again.

“I hope if they do keep me here, I’ll continue be able to build on top of that. If they don’t, then I hope that at least helps set the foundation and structures for the next group to come in and continue to know what it means to be a great teammate.”

GENO SMITH PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES 📝:
On Rams game:
“Big game. Shoot, I can’t wait.” Said he looks forward to every game.

On milestones and bonuses:
“I kind of let those things just take care of themselves. I’ve got to go out there and play football and do the right thing no matter what happens.” Says they’re on his mind, but he’s trying not to think about it.

Talked about trying to get JSN to break Lockett’s record with respect to the game.

Says there’s a lot that the offense could improve on but wanted to keep it internal.

On Devon Witherspoon:
“Since the day we got young Spoon, he’s just been that fiery competitor we saw coming out of college.”

Said it’s unfortunate that Leonard Williams didn’t make it to the Pro Bowl. “I don’t really know what goes into that, but someone on the committee needs to be addressed.”

From week 1-9, the defense was ranked 13th.

The in 2024 were ranked first on 1st and 2nd down defense.

In 2023? They were ranked 27th.

The Grubb offense scored 19 points per game, which is the lowest since 2011.

Defense:

The teams defense is ranked the 10th best in points per game, which is 21.4 PPG.
