‘Pretty Boys Like Jazz Rap’

McKinley Dixon & Teller Bank$ started their own kinda student protest at Grinnell last night: performing “Mezzanine Tippin’” together on stage (perhaps for the first time ever?!). College kids clearly needed to get sum off their chests cuz they loved it.

Dixon kicked off his US/Canada tour in Iowa, with upcoming dates in DC, NYC, Boston, Philly & more!

So. Let’s talk for a sec, We kinda went MIA for the beginning of 2023. Things happened that were out of our control that needed handled, we’re not gonna get into that right now. TGM is excited to tell you that they have been hard at work and very excited to get back to the consistency we’ve been talking about behind the scenes. TGM is back, we plan on dropping new music out of the vault and ones you haven’t heard yet. We plan on giving yall 3 to 4 song tapes to start because we feel that if we’re gonna make an album we need to start from scratch and really give yall a full album not just singles we’ve been sitting on. Rapper Druss2x (DEE-Russ Two Times) celebrated his 21st birthday w/ a hip-hop showcase inside the black box at CSPS Hall, where they usually stick the metal shows. The event featured performances from Jay Pharaoh, Manny Sanchez and Nyn the Ghost, plus groups like T.K.O., Critical Money and Russ’s own outfit 319’s Finest — also consisting of Nickk, Buukilo, Ncee WAV and (one of my fave Iowa duos) Trap Garage Mafia!

Upstairs, in the larger auditorium, an event at the same time called ‘Unite Da City’ brought in droves of music lovers and boasted a bill THIRTY ONE (31!) rappers long! 😱 I spoke w/ a guy in the lobby who was nervous about his three-song set, but he was 27th on the roster so I’m sure he had time to get it together. Shoutout CSPS, keep that rap sh-t going!
