Our new film, Parthenogenesis, has just begun its trip into the scary void of Film Festival applications. Stay tuned for more news, behind the scenes photos, and eventually a premiere! Thanks to the wonderful crew of Olympia-based artists who brought all of this together.

Yes, it's certainly been something of a mad year. So mad in fact that we've done very little posting here as we've been up to our eyeballs in projects! Lots of new work coming up for Battleground in 2025, including a new podcast, a new film, a play revival, and more!

Now that we have your attention....

There aren't a lot of reviews out there in the modern world because there aren't a lot of theater critics left writing. Therefore I'm particularly delighted to share this one from one of my fellow Sherlockians who came and saw our show last week, Margie Deck.

Long-time SOB John Longenbaugh’s return to theater after a self-imposed absence is nothing short of a triumph. As  writer/co-director for the surprising Our House, An Evening in Three Acts, he successfully melds a wealth of constructional knowledge with a desire for “something interesting and different” to the delight of each tiny audience (another self-imposition) lucky enough to obtain seats.

Working in tandem with co-director Brian Willis and a stellar cast of Mathaeus Andersen, Meghan Goodman, Jesse Morrow and the brilliant Mark Waldstein, Longenbaugh presents a story of ninety years of love, loss, and redemption within the perimeters of a small, sturdy house—a small house with enough charm to almost steal the show from the capable hands of the cast.

Presented Thursday through Sunday in September to 14-seat audiences, the unusual combination of live at-home theater presented within what can only be called a cocktail party, the event asked its attendees to mingle, snack, laugh, maybe get a little teary near the end and then to seriously consider the eventual extinction of the world as we know it.  As one does.

Hopefully the world will not end before Battleground Productions and the Northwest Playwrights Alliance throws another party at Our House.

When planning your time traveling play, obviously the most important issue is deciding on some signature cocktails for each year. (Thx to the multi-talented Meghan Goodman for the superlative penmanship.)

We are sold out for our run for "Our House" this entire week, but still have a few tickets left for select closing performances next week.

Don't make the mistake of waiting too long!

It looks like Callie has already heard the news, which is while we are sold out for the rest of this weekend and into next week, four tickets just came available for our immersive play "Our House" tonight. Come see the show that both critics and audiences are saying is like nothing they've ever seen before. ("Our House breaks the rules in its own way and enlarges what theater can be."--Oly Arts)

And believe it or not, we have already been hit with scammers. (Guess it's a sign of success.) If anyone is offering to sell you tickets online, your better bet is to go to right to Brownpapertickets.com.

We are largely sold out for the next two weeks, but there are a few tickets left for tonight and for our extension. If you want a chance to be one of the very few people who get to see a show that's already gathering critical laudits and enthusiastic audiences, get your tickets now at Brownpapertickets.com.

What an absolutely spectacular opening week we had of our new play Our House! Thanks to great word of mouth and some very generous press, we have already sold out 2/3 of our original run and added an additional week, with the show now running Thursday through Sunday through September 29th.

Our gratitude to the tremendously hard-working cast and crew, and for that matter all those who have undertaken the effort of getting my small mischievous dog out from under a foot (though she did attend the dress rehearsal).

There are still tickets but they're going very quickly, so if you'd like to join us, head over to Brown Paper Tickets and get yours now.

You bet we're excited, as excited as a couple who've finally made it to Paris! That's because due to quite literally popular demand, we are now adding an extra week of shows to "Our House," Thursday through Sunday September 29th. Get them quick because they won't last long; our audience is only 14 people a night, and we absolutely must close by end of the month.

Viva la Paris, et la theatre!

Here's something fun! I sat down with Billie Wildrick and Joshua Carter, my two Gregory Award-winning friends (and real-life couple) for an interview with the head of Dramafy to talk about the making of our new supernatural romantasy "Moonlight and Love Songs." It's got all sorts of behind-the-scenes info, including my meanderings about the romance genre and why men generally suck at writing them.

In the digital age posters are a bit of an Old Fashioned luxury. But there's nothing quite like putting up your first posters for an upcoming show to stir the dormant theater kid in your soul.
