Our Mitten Tree donation is still set up in our lobby! All donors can enter to win a 100-dollar gift certificate to Rose & Thistle right across the street from our office. A winner will be drawn THIS FRIDAY, so make sure to stop in, pick up a copy or two of this week's upcoming paper, and donate some of your unused hats, gloves or scarves to local families in need! Penta Career Center held a groundbreaking ceremony on September 16 at the construction site of its future E-Mobility lab, 9301 Buck Road, Perrysburg Township. The event featured remarks from Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted who leads the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation.
The new lab facility will teach Penta students the skills to work with an evolving electrical infrastructure, drone technology, and advanced aircraft technology.

The 2024 Award of Distinction ceremony will be held Friday, October 4, at 5:30 p.m., in the Rossford Junior-Senior High School auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
This year’s honoree, Mayor Neil MacKinnon III, will be recognized for his contributions to society, including his efforts to bring new business development, employment opportunities, and economic growth to Rossford.
He will be honored with the ceremony and during Rossford's football game against the Lake Flyers at 7 p.m. on October 4 at Jackson-Ferguson Stadium.

Rossford Police Chief, Todd Kitzler reported that a suspect is under arrest, following a string of vehicular robberies. From August 28 to Sept 10, 2024, the police department took reports from 19 residents who had property stolen from their vehicles during the early morning hours. Thefts occurred on Windsor, Vineyard, Maybar, Colony Road, Indian Ridge Trail, Hillview and Santus. On September 10, 2024, Tyler Eugene Smith (48) was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Theft, both felonies of the 5th degree.

The front-page feature of this past week's Rossford Record details the security changes coming to football games at Jackson-Ferguson Stadium starting this Friday, Sept. 13. The Evolv security system that has been implemented at the entrance to Rossford High School will be used at the entrance to the games, along with a new policy on large bags.

Barbara Orange, chairwoman of the Lucas County Republican Party, is leading in the hosting of an event in conjunction with the Alliance for a Safe Texas on the southern border crisis and illegal immigration's impact on Northwest Ohio this Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event will be at the Lucas County Republican Party Headquarters, 1306 Kittle Road in Holland.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office will be holding their Citizens' Police Academy on Thursday evenings from September 5 to November 21, with classes running from 6 to 9 p.m.
Class size is limited, so interested Wood County residents are encouraged to reserve a space early.

The deadline to apply is NEXT FRIDAY, August 30.

The Wood County Museum is holding their 21st annual Wood County Living History Day this Sunday, August 25, at 2 p.m.
At the Wood County Museum (13660 County Home Road in Bowling Green), local residents will portray citizens of Wood County who served as important educators and administrators who have helped our wonderful schools around the county be what they are today.
The event is free and open to the parking lot, so bring your family, some lawn chairs or picnic blankets, and learn about YOUR local history!
