Just got out of an early screening of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES and I had to talk about it. I will write a longer review on my blog but I will still say that this was pure fun from the moment it started.

I have been saying for years that we don't get enough high fantasy movies and this felt like a great return that reminded me of the original Willow movie where it embraces the silliness while maintaining the action and adventure that everyone comes to see movies like this for. The humor had me and my entire auditorium laughing. The visuals were absolutely gorgeous with some shockingly impressive cinematography. The cast are the greatest part about Honor Among Thieves, I loved Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and the rest of the crew; each of them brought something to the table in terms of personality and their different skills. It truly felt like a D&D campaign with all the weird stuff that happens and the banter between characters.

I will say more in my review but for now, I will just say that I loved this movie. It was a great standalone fantasy adventure film that I cannot recommend enough as it felt like Guardians Of The Galaxy meets 80s fantasy movies. Just pure fun. 9.5/10.

With Transformers Reactivate becoming my new obsession as one of my most anticipated games of the year, I thought I should start revisiting the franchise as a whole in no particular order and give my opinions.

TRANSFORMERS (2007)

I unironically still enjoy this movie very much. Does it focus a little too much on Sam Witwicky and the other human characters sometimes? Sure. However, I personally felt that this first movie had the right balance of human and Cybertronian action.

When the titular robots are on screen, I remember being blown away by how they were able to bring these beings to life with what was revolutionary CGI at the time. I remember being in my seat and when I heard Peter Cullen's voice coming out of the cinematic Optimus Prime, I did a little victory dance.

The action scenes were spectacles, the humor was actually funny (most of the time), and the humans were at least actual characters. My biggest gripe was how much Michael Bay turned the movie into a giant advertisement to indoctrinate viewers into the military. As a Transformers fan, I was also disappointed by how small the roster of Autobots and Decepticons there were. I wanted to see Hot Rod, Sideswipe, Arcee, and so many others but that's just a nitpick. I loved who we did get though.

To me, Transformers (2007) was a big event and it did help the franchise get even bigger in the public eye. Sadly, the sequels would...fumble, I guess is a word I could use. I can still pop in the first movie and get a smile on my face.
