**Winter Weather Update**

Please consider altering any travel plans for late this week and stay updated with the weather forecast!

Snow flurries are possible on Wednesday, but significant accumulation is not expected until Wednesday night into Thursday. In North Texas, snowfall is predicted to be the main event, while a wintry mix is expected south of the I-20 corridor. The weather will start to wind down by Friday morning; however, road conditions are likely to remain dangerous throughout much of the region.

Travel impacts are anticipated on Thursday and Friday, especially on untreated roads in North Texas, where 2 to 5 inches of snow may accumulate. A transition zone with a wintry mix will occur across Central Texas, while primarily a rain-snow mix is expected in the southeast, with little to no snow accumulation and a chance of an isolated light glaze of ice. Untreated roads and elevated bridges/overpasses will be affected. The heaviest precipitation is expected during the daytime on Thursday.

05/01/2025

A significant cold front is expected to sweep across North and Central Texas, bringing with it brisk north winds and a lengthy stretch of chilly temperatures. As this front moves through, scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop along and east of Interstate 35, primarily during the morning hours. It’s important to note that the warmest temperatures of the day will occur early in the morning before the front passes, after which temperatures will rapidly decline.

If you're planning to spend time outdoors on Sunday, it’s essential to dress warmly. By Sunday evening, wind chill values are predicted to plummet into the 20s, making it feel even colder than the actual air temperature.

The anticipated high temperatures will generally range from the mid to upper 30s near the Red River, while other regions may see highs in the 40s. As the night approaches, low temperatures are expected to settle into the 20s. In the early hours of Monday, particularly along the Red River, morning wind chills could dip into the teens, with some areas possibly experiencing wind chill values in the single digits. Prepare accordingly for this significant drop in temperature!

04/01/2025

There is an increasing likelihood of a wintry mix developing late next week, specifically on Thursday and Friday. However, considerable uncertainty remains regarding the precise locations that will be affected by this wintry mix and the potential accumulation amounts that could occur.

The most probable scenario, with a 70% chance of occurrence, suggests that a rain-snow mix will blanket portions of North and Central Texas from late Thursday into the early hours of Friday. Alongside this, there is a possibility of a wintry mix that could include freezing rain and sleet, which may lead to slick road conditions and other winter weather impacts.

Conversely, a less likely scenario, which has about a 30% chance of happening, indicates that only light, cold rain may affect parts of Central Texas, while regions in North Texas might remain dry with no significant precipitation.

Given these varying scenarios and the uncertainty involved, it is advisable to stay updated with the latest forecasts as meteorologists refine their predictions and provide more detailed information in the days leading up to this potential wintry event.
