Jared Kaufman with Pioneer Press I enjoyed reading your interview with Lauren Post with Minnesota Dance Theatre very much. I have high hopes Post will bring the leadership needed to reinvigorate Minnesota Dance Theatre . Meanwhile, in Saint Paul for the past 35 years, former Loyce Holton dancers, Andrew and Cheryl Rist, have been teaching, inspiring, guiding, and a magnificent roster of classical ballet dancers at Ballet Minnesota . The Rists' school, Cba Ballet Classical Ballet Academy, has launched dancers to ABT, Boston Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Stuttgart Ballet, and the list goes on and on. I highly recommend their school.

It's "Gala season" in the Twin Cities and lots of generous people have been showing up to support their favorite causes. Mine is the 2024 Carondelet Celebration supporting all of the ministries started by the Sisters of St. Joseph. I chaired the gala committee this year and we were so happy to have 370 people fill the ballroom! I think everyone had a good time too-- always a bonus. And thank you to Archbishop Bernard Hebda for joining us- another bonus as he brings profound kindness and interest to events he attends. We raised just over $300,000 for the following ministries:

Wisdom Ways
Learning In Style
Sarah's... an Oasis for Women

The arborist who completed the tree impact study for SOS takes part in this adventurous group playing music from tree tops! The Midway-Frogtown Arborators. We think it's an awesome way to show love for the trees!

Members of the Midway-Frogtown Arborators Band, all of whom work with trees, haul instruments and themselves up as high as 40 feet for concerts.

Saving the trees has been a major focus for . So Grand Avenue has us feeling very disheartened. The city planted saplings last year to replace Ash trees.....only to cut these beauties down to one-inch stumps this year for road reconstruction.

Momentum is growing on ADA rights-- this just in from Washington D.C. where a proposed bike path would have posed barriers for people with mobility/accessibility issues and the elderly:

DDOT Director Says Conn Ave Safety Plan Will Not Have Bike Lanes

Today, during the DC Council's Transportation Committee budget hearing, Councilmember Matt Frumin asked DDOT Director Sharon Kershbaum, about the status of the Connecticut Ave safety project. She stated said the "plan will not include a bike lane" and "it will be a safety project." She explained how the plan was initially about safety and somehow it morphed into a bike project. Director Kershbaum went on to say, in the future, DDOT will "be far more intentional about where we put a bike lane and not just do it every time we do a road diet."
