This section of Route 66 is known as The Sidewinder and has 191 curves, in just 8 miles! Although the road was not in great condition, the ride was still fantastic and we ended up in the cutest western town.Nestled in the Black Mountains of Arizona, Oatman is a quirky and historic Old West town known for its wild burros that roam the streets. We just love The Smoky Mountains! 🤠💖 We always exercise caution when we are near wildlife. We never EVER approach elk (or any other animal in the wild) and definitely adhere to keeping a distance of at least 50 yards. However, wildlife doesn’t always cooperate or follow these guidelines.😜 ⛰️The National Parks Service recommends the following: Feeding, touching, disturbing, and willfully approaching wildlife within 50 yards (150 feet), or any distance that disturbs or displaces wildlife, are illegal in the park. If approached by an elk, visitors should slowly back away to put distance between the animal and themselves creating space for the animal to pass.
