My good friend and right hand underwater man in Chile @peterniada is currently on a film shoot of his own. we have filmed together for many years all around this amazing country. In his honor I found this gem of a moment which i filmed and Peter lit from a month long shoot- not too long ago. It was an explosion of Muneda shrimp also known as whale shrimp just underneath our expedition vessel- we dove in at 4am and filmed the silent, dark world as it exploded in life! Also in the frenzy mix was a male and female king crab which We rudely interrupted mid mating…. later this day, just a few miles North from here we witnessed, filmed and experienced one of the most exciting moments in my underwater filming career- as a large group of Sei Whales feasted on a gigantic number of this very same shrimp. We captured the moment from the air, with stabilized long lens and of course in your face action underwater. The buffet lasted but a few hours after which the sea was once again calm and silent as all the bests retreated back into the ocean depths. Moments similar to this happen everywhere on earth both on land and underwater…. we just have to open our eyes and be there…. @fourthelementdive @lightandmotiondive @scubajets @oceanopportunity @sachtlersystems @radiusoutfitters @supertrampcampers @shotonred @reddigitalcinema
A few years we filmed one of the greatest aggregations of Guanay Cormorants on the planet- this is a short reel with first VO i did. Some highlights of this special place aired today on CBS Sunday Nature in honor of this up and coming Valentines day- you see, these birds mate for life!❤️❤️ Here’s to LOVE #redcinema #aquaterrafilms @sachtlersystems @antonbauerbatteries @fourthelementdive @lightandmotiondive @scubajets
For the past four years, we have been working on the first episode of our fully inhouse produced natural history series called "NorthAmerican Waters". Episode 1: "Arrivals" , follows the many stories of waterbound migrations that explode during the very short late spring / Early summer seasons. It is filmed almost entirely in #Maine We always wanted to bring the highest production value to our home state to be able to showcase what wildlife we have here but in a truly cinematic way. FIlmed entirely in 6K with Red Cameras and the DJI Inspire 2 drones, Rebreathers and other pro tools we typically use on International large budget productions.
We are finally getting closer to our objective of finalizing this first hour in this series. Here is a little "sneak peak" into what we have been up to. I wish to thank the entire Aquaterrafilms production team both here in Maine and abroad, for your patience and dedication to getting this film made. Crank the volume. Special thanks to all these amazing companies that have always supported our professional work over the years. we could not do what we do without your ongoing support Thank you! A very special thanks to my great friend/brother and Chilean producer @renearaneda for always bringing me in on all these inportant productions in Chile!. In his words this is what this new series "Patagonia" is all about.
"The first natural history production for @cnnorigseries is not a an average wildlife documentary: Its nature, through the eyes of humans who interact, protect and coexist with our wildlife and their ecosystems.
A titanic mission we developed (with love and hope) in a crazy pandemic world. Magic happened when we all worked together. Building a solid international team has never been so important 🇬🇧 🇨🇱 🇦🇷 🇺🇸
Showing the stunning Patagonia from Chile and Argentina to the whole world is always something to celebrate. But its much more Important to show the efforts of those people protecting it and making the difference to make a better world. So many heroes that deserved to tell their stories. The spotlight will be on them and the animals that inhabit OUR PATAGONIA"

CBS Sunday Nature this Sunday
March 6th, at 10:20 am EST.
A longer version will be on the CBS site soon thereafter.
We started the early winter season filming two River Otter siblings smack in the middle of the city of Portland, Maine.
When I began filming them as they had just been pushed out of their Den to fend for themselves. Slowly, I got to know them, capturing intimate sequences as they became more confident with their surroundings. A voracious appetite drove their daily lives - yet they always found time to play, cuddle and rest.
They captured the imagination of many, delighted and made everyone that saw them, Smile!.
Still in the midst of Covid, they brought many of us outdoors (especially photographers). For weeks we filmed in the cold, snowy and icy weather until one day they - they simply vanished.
A frozen pond?, a depleted food supply? or the harassment of a few indiscreminate bystanders eventually - forced them to move on.
It is pleasure to give National exposure to some of our local characters especially one that has been so hard to film in the past.
Thanks to Karl Karl Ramsdell , earl wilcher , John Saleda and the many others that made this winter filming so memorable. Great camaraderie.
Thank you @cbssundaymorning for airing so much of my work over the years.
Special thanks to Sachtler Anton/Bauer Fourth Element SCUBAJET Light and Motion Dive and Ocean Opportunities for keeping me warm, illuminated, stable and powered up!

I’m back to posting after a looong break and I hope everyone is well and hanging in there! I have been editing a few long term personal projects during this lock down of no International travel period. One such film is on a Sperm Whale pod which we have been following; A family group that has allowed me to enter their “inner circle” more than once to witness many intimate moments that will undoubtedly make the cut. I’m pictured here from the air on the left together with my friend and ace photographer @timothyjdalton - filmed under permit - #aquaterrafilms #behindthescenes #redcinema @reddigitalcinema - Special thanks to the support of @lightandmotiondive @fourthelementdive @sachtlersystems @antonbauerbatteries for their ongoing support of my work.
In Early 2020 We launched a collaborative series called World of Oceans and Ocean Secrets. The series is based primarily on my extensive 4K+ @reddigitalcinema motion library spaning the last 12 years of filming all over the world. The six part series covers all subject matter introducing the viewer both young and old to some beautiful and unique sequences, nothing too deep but definitely special. An educational and insightful view of our ocean world and many of its unique inhabitants- from Sperm whales to Komodo Dragons, tropical Pacific Reefs and Sharks. This was a collaborative effort between #aquaterrafilms @visionhawkfilms and @renearaneda (NEDO Producciones). World of Oceans is currently airing in various International networks. Within the next year I hope it makes its USA debut in one format or another. When it does, I will make sure to let all of you know. #behindthescenes @redcamerausers Special thanks my sponsors for their ongoing support of my work- @fourthelementdive @lightandmotiondive @sachtlersystems and to our friend and talented underwater photographer (and excellent bee keeper) @timothyjdalton for being part of many of the great adventures depicted in the series. For @mayahaydon and @taylorhhaydon -
With no international travel in sight and most all film projects on hold, I have been preparing files for a few submissions... re-visiting and re-discovering past wildlife moments captured over the years... Being forced to re-focus all my efforts on my Motion library and localized filming projects right here in #Maine. It is a tough but rewarding experience having to re-direct all efforts in a new fresh direction - just when you thought you had all the eggs in one basket!.
