In a world of self-absorption, He shows us the way to true contentment: serving others with care and forgiveness because He Himself came to serve and forgive.

He is worthy to be praised forever and ever because of His unconditional love! And yet there is so much more of Him to know! Lord, as we know more of You, help us to overcome self-seeking and self-centeredness and walk in forgiveness with each other.

So thankful for all of our dads today, who speak good things over their kids and encourage them to be brave while they protect them from the shadows. Thank you, dads, for keeping us safe, believing in us, praying for our futures, and never forgetting that your Heavenly Father can take care of anything you can't!

"Love does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." Following up our previous post with the second half of verse 4 in 1 Corinthians 13.

God has every reason to be proud and to boast. He is the only image of perfection we have ever known. And yet Jesus came, humbling Himself to become a man, and then to die for men, and He did it WITH JOY so we could be with Him. He humbled Himself with joy.

Lord, you are worthy to be praised forever and ever because of your humility alone! And yet there is so much more of You to know! As we know more of You, help us to walk in humility with each other.

"Love is patient; love is kind..." This is only the first part of verse 4 in 1 Corinthians chapter 13, often referred to as "the love chapter." But we could talk endlessly about how patient God has been with us and the great kindness He has shown us.

He is worthy to be praised forever and ever because of His patient loving-kindness alone. And yet there is so much more of Him to know! Lord, as we know more of You, help us to walk in patience and kindness with each other.

Today we remember when Jesus gave His disciples the gift of the Last Supper (Luke 22:14-20). “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Jesus broke the bread Himself and gave it to them, symbolizing how the Bread of Life would be broken for their sake.

They had heard Him speak about being the Bread of Life, but like so many of His words, they couldn't have possibly understood the deeper meaning before His death and resurrection. But at this table, they received Him and His words, and believed them, even without understanding.

Jesus, the Word made flesh, gives us this powerful insight: consume Me (the Word of God) daily and you will never die. Then He offered His flesh as a final sacrifice for sin, conquering death, and being resurrected, secured salvation for all who believe in Him.

After they received greater revelation, how thankful the disciples must have been that they had believed and were faithful even when they didn't understand. This is faith. And this is where He is calling us to live today.

Let's feast today on the Bread of Life, Jesus, who is the Word made flesh. Let's sit and listen to what He has for us today, even if we have questions. He likes questions, actually. And He loves when, even without a full understanding of His Word, we believe and follow Him anyway.
