Battle Chess Plugin for RPG Maker MV/MZ.

We're excited to share the Battle Chess RPG Maker Plugin, a new addition for RPG Maker MV and MZ that brings a fully functional chess mini-game into your projects.

This is the first RPG Maker MV/MZ chess plugin (as far as we're aware) to feature a working AI.

This plugin was developed with the help of Psychronic-GPT (ChatGPT4o), as well as Claude 3.5 Sonnet over the course of 1 week.

Customizable Chess Experience:
Set custom images for the board, pieces, and background through the plugin parameters.
Choose between Player vs. Player, Player vs. AI, or AI vs. AI game modes.

Easy to Start:
Use the StartChessGame plugin command to initiate the chess mini-game.
Select the game mode and player color directly from the plugin parameters.

Visual Customization:
Display custom sprites and portraits for each piece, with adjustable offsets.
Enjoy capture animations for each piece.

We are working on a Battlechess Minigame Plugin for RPG Maker MV/MZ that allows for a lot of customization and a smart AI.

The plugin was developed with the help of ChatGPT/Psychronic-GPT as well as Claude 3.5 Sonnet. We hope to finish it today after 1 week of work. The plugin will be released for free to the general public for anybody to use in their RPG Maker games.

Working on developing a minigame plugin for RPG Maker MZ (and hopefully MV too). I'd like to call it "Psychronic Battle Chess". What you see here is extremely rudimentary and is not the final product. Already we can make the correct moves for each of the pieces according to normal chess rules. They are static pictures however.

What I'm going for with this minigame is that it will be sprites instead of pictures, and then when one piece captures/kills another piece, it actually shows them slashing the opponent with a sword or something, where all the specifics are decided in the plugin parameters, where the player can pick their own graphics for the chess pieces and the board, and animations for attacks of the pieces, etc.

Also I'm going to add computer AI for the opponent for sure, but for now I'm just getting the mechanics to work before I do that part.

Just kind of a fun one day project that I'll work on for a few days here and there and will eventually release (free of course).

Hope everybody's having a great weekend!

We have recently released "Star Shift: Rebellion" on Steam, a sci-fi Indie RPG partly influenced by classics such as the older Final Fantasy titles, Suikoden 1 & 2, Mass Effect, Xenogears and Phantasy Star.

These and many other franchises have always been a source of inspiration for our game, and kept creativity flowing as we worked on this passion project over the past few years, even though we aim to add our own twist as well.

Our goal was to create a series of stories in a sci-fi setting combining classic RPG elements with turn-based and tactical combat, while adding a new spin on things as well.

For example, in Star Shift, there are no levels. In most classic RPG's, you level up, and that increases your stats. In the case of Star Shift, the characters acquire Knowledge points from combat which they can use to learn various active and passive skills.

Star Shift Rebellion is the second title in the Star Shift series, coming after Star Shift Origins, which got released November 8th, 2021.

Each game is one small part in a larger story. Each game is self-contained, meaning you can play the games in any order and not be totally lost if you played the other game. But there are threads from each game that lead into the other games as well in terms of characters, plot, storyline, etc.

In Star Shift Rebellion, there's a diverse cast of over 14 playable characters with unique skill trees to complement your play-style.

Also one extremely underrated area of focus in most RPG's is the soundtrack or the music. The Soundtrack for Star Shift Rebellion comes from many amazing artists and we took special care to find the best music for all the scenes in the game.

What I'm going for with this minigame is that it will be sprites instead of pictures, and then when one piece captures/kills another piece, it actually shows them slashing the opponent with a sword or something, where all the specifics are decided in the plugin parameters, where the player can pick their own graphics for the chess pieces and the board, and animations for attacks of the pieces, etc. Also I'm going to add computer AI for the opponent for sure, but for now I'm just getting the mechanics to work before I do that part. Just kind of a fun one day project that I'll work on for a few days here and there and will eventually release (free of course).
