Unfortunately, the holiday season is not so joyous for many employees, who were laid off in the week after Thanksgiving. In this latest edition of HR News Roundup, we share that Spotify, Vox Media, Conde Nast, and Pfizer announced job cuts.

While the layoffs - typical for this time of year - are happening, many are considering the return to office mandates that simply are not working. In the last week, the influential Workplace Thought Leader Nick Bloom, who is also a professor at Stanford University, said, "RTO is dead!" Even the White House is having trouble getting people back to the office.

For this week's HR News Roundup, HR Exchange Network is taking a deeper look at a few companies that are considering ways for artificial intelligence to replace humans. Although the intriguing title is accurate, there is some hope for people. Those who gain AI skills will have an edge among talent in the job market.

In the meantime, read this article and consider how leaders are thinking about AI, the role it will play in our future, and the role humans will have as a result. One thing is clear, there is disconnect between how leaders and workers view AI. Leaders see it as a way to cut costs and become lean and efficient. Workers see it as a tool to help them do their jobs. It's a slight but distinct difference.
