We have a lot of fun thinking through and lighting scenes. This particular project with .and.harbor called for us to use almost every light that we have.

Because the space we were shooting in had so many awesome details, we wanted to bring the light in the entire room up to minimize contrast and shadows, and make those details pop.

Having a variety of lighting and diffusion options helps us so much when trying to tell a client’s story well.

The way that you light a scene or subject plays a huge part in how that scene is interpreted by the viewer.

This particular scene for our friends at UIDP called for a clean, well-lit, corporate look. This meant using a high-key light to minimize shadows and contrast on our subject. The challenge for us was to create a well-balanced image while having the light on the subject mimic the ambient light coming in the windows.

Marketing is a lesson in repetition.

We use repetition in musical elements and melodies when making tracks for clients, especially repeat clients.

Having similar musical themes repeated throughout a project, and across multiple video assets, deepens brand identity, increases brand awareness, and helps build an emotional connection to your brand.

It’s a great feeling when all the planning from preproduction comes together for the start of a new project.

If you want to tell someone’s story well, there is a lot of thought and planning that goes in to that. What are their likes? What are their dislikes? What makes them tick as a brand? Who are they as people?

Last week we had our first full day of production with .and.harbor . While we have a good idea of what this brand represents and how we want to capture and tell their story, we are continuing to learn new things about them and will constantly be asking ourselves the afore mentioned questions in order to make their project great.

Every great movie you’ve ever seen has a great storyline, right? We were lucky enough to tell the story of how one such movie was made.

For this project we found ourselves on a chicken farm in Albemarle, NC on the set of summer film “The Grand Strand.”

Although it would appear to be a typical film set, this set was far from normal. Through their Get On Set Program, Local Cinema Studios partners with the South Carolina Film Commission and to combine university students with industry professionals to give students real world experience in their field of study.

For a couple of film geeks like ourselves, it’s been an incredible time not only getting to see how the film is made, but also getting to capture the student’s experiences as they learn from these industry professionals.

Recently we’ve had the privilege to utilize more animation in our work. We are lucky enough have a great friend and partner who really knocks these animation out of park for us and our clients.

Reid McCandless does really great work and helps us tell stories in new an interesting ways for our clients. Here are some examples of how he was able to use animations to explain complex financial ideas for our friends Pendleton Street Business Advisors We love the way these all turned out.

It’s not every day that we get to be part of the final story for a project, at least not the part that happens in front of the camera.

We recently wrapped a shoot where we got to set up and shoot some final scenes in our office space. Thankfully Andrew has experience acting and was able to step in and make the final scenes great.

Custom music makes your video project stand out.

An often minimized component of storytelling is sound. Creating a sonically appropriate space for your story to be told in not only improves how your story is perceived by audiences, but also helps your brand stand out in a crowd.

Because we all come from musical backgrounds, our approach to production is different. We strive to create tracks that accurately represent you, your brand, and the goals you have for your video project.

As we wrap up edits for a Barnwell 45 retrospective documentary, it seems appropriate to show some behind the scenes looks from an interview day in Barnwell earlier this year. We’ve been able to shoot in countless awesome locations in the Barnwell school district, but this gym was all of our favorites.

We recently got to shoot some content for . Here is a look at a small portion of the setups for that project.

Bright, natural feeling lighting was the priority for this shoot so we brought almost all the lighting that we have in our arsenal.

As always the .lighting 1200d Pro was the MVP of the day (not pictured), followed closely by the .lighting F22x which, while it is super versatile, we used mainly as a key for the day. Honorable mention goes to our Amaran T 2c which we used for both a fill and a hair light.

Because of it’s variety of landscapes (rivers, beaches, mountains, etc) we really enjoy doing videography work in South Carolina. There is no shortage of beautiful spaces and awesome parks to capture for projects like this one.

5 years ago today Chad filed for the LLC for The Pierson Collective. What started as two employees in a spare room is now 4 employees in an office who truly love video production, photography, and sound design. Thank you to all of those who work with us on shoots, and those who trust us with their stories.

We recently won 2 silver ADDY’s for our work with USC’s Department of Theater and Dance. One for Cinematography in Film, Video & Sound, and one for Music in Elements of Advertising. Here is the final deliverable.

We are still in disbelief!

Progress was always the plan, but we could never have planned for this.

We push ourselves a little bit harder every shoot. We refine our processes. We challenge one another. We don’t settle for the quickest or easiest options during or post production.

Going in to this year’s awards ceremony, we hoped to win one Addy to continue the streak. And, in our wildest dreams, we hoped for a second. In a surprising turn of events, we brought home 8 awards which encompassed every aspect of our business: Videography, Photography, and Sound Design.

The night ended with being awarded Best in Show for our work with . For that we are floored and eternally grateful. Thanks to everyone who trusted us with your story. We truly love this work.
