What are your shipping charges and options? Go to our Customer Service/Ordering FAQ. Orders in the U.S. qualify for free Media Mail shipping. How do I contact you? Go to our Contacts page. Are you open to submissions? Unfortunately, Tachyon is not open to submissions from authors. The following queries are welcome:

Literary agents – authors, please do not query us if you represent only yourself. Artists and designers – please send links to your portfolios and recent work (no attachments). Interns – if you have any relevant interest or experience in genre/speculative fiction, we’d love to hear about it in your cover letter. Again, please no direct queries from authors. We recommend the Resources area at SFWA for comprehensive information for authors about science fiction and fantasy publishing. Are you hiring? Regrettably, we are not. I want to post your e-books for free on the Web, that’s cool, right? You already know the answer to this but here’s why it’s not ok. According to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) it is illegal to distribute copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright holder. If breaking the law is unimportant to you (we’ve all been there), also please consider that when you pirate e-books the authors will not be paid for their work. If you want more meaningful art in the world, please do pay for it. From a legal standpoint, we do actively monitor and report copyright violations and we also report offending sites to governmental and consumer-watchdog agencies. Tl;dr: Don’t steal from writers, k? Why “Tachyon”? A tachyon (tack-ee-on; from the Greek tachus, meaning “speedy”) is a hypothetical elementary subatomic particle that is capable of exceeding the speed of light. Tachyons would violate causality if they were proven to exist, because they could be sent to the past, creating a time paradox (like on every other episode of Star Trek). This is how we meet our deadlines here at Tachyon—first we miss them, and then we go back and meet them. Tachyons actually travel faster when they are losing energy and slow down when they are gaining energy, which is kind of a metaphor for the publishing industry, if you think about it (we try not to).

New Adventures in Space Opera edited by Jonathan Strahan

While the stories in this collection aren't totally new they are just about totally stellar - and even the ones that weren't were interesting in one way or another. I gave the collection as a whole an A grade because so many in it were just so good.

My personal favorites were "Metal Like Blood in the Dark" by T. Kingfisher, "A Temporary Embarrassment in Spacetime" by Charlie Jane Anders, "The Good Heretic" by Becky Chambers and "Planetstuck" by Sam J. Miller.

You'll have favorites too. Promise!

Pleased to be editing yet another debut author for Tachyon Publications: Martin Cahill's AUDITION FOR THE FOX is a romp about the revolutionary power of stories, people's hearts, and middling poetry (you're gonna have to read it to get it!).

This one's fun because there are interstitial stories between the main narrative parts that flesh out the cosmology of the world. I also love it when I can tell an author "your book, we must fatten it up, so answer all these questions "

💛Book Tour & Review🧡

Thank you and for my

In the School of Assassins, Stone Orphan waits for a first assignment. After their first kill, they will graduate and attain the coveted cloth of bone. But instead of a commission, Stone Orphan gets an inquisitive linguist, Ulín. Ulín has heard the Orphan Star’s song of despair, mirroring her own, and drawing her to the School of Assassins. But Ulín is far more interested in learning Stone Orphan’s language than deciding whom she wishes to kill.

Unable to contain their curiosity, Stone Orphan offers to exchange stories with Ulín to help her decide the fate of three men. By turns, Stone Orphan and Ulín narrate tales of love, suffering, exile, and self-determination, and two wounded souls find hope in each other through the radical act of listening.

Thoughts

This read was so wonderful. The characters being assassins and it's multiple POVs. People being distinctly non binary and POC. There's just so much to chew on through Yoke of Stars, it leaves no crumbs. Without a doubt will be picking up more books from this author.

The Best of Joe Lansdale was my gateway drug to the work of the Champion Mojo Storyteller. I've gone from there to reading more of his novels and short stories and I've even started collecting his books. This collection is right up there with "The Best of" collection, and I had a blast with it!

A few of these stories I've read in other collections and as stand alone tales in ebook form. But the new-to-me stories here were honestly....delightful!

It's delightful when Smokey the Bear goes awry. It's kind of funny to read about two guys at a drive in movie with one date. (Sure it's pretty damn icky, but you gotta admit, it's funny too. Is there a word for vomiting while laughing?)

In DIRT DEVILS a group of gangsters stop for gas and an elderly man comes out to help them.
"He looked as if he had once been wadded and was now starting to slowly unfold. His hair was as white as the sand and floated when he walked."

Can you picture him? Delightful!

I'll tell you BILLIE SUE did a terrible thing when she left her man. But he's thinking about forgiving her. (Here is another tale where I'm laughing and ewwwwing at the same time.

I very much enjoyed rereading The Projectionist, which I previously read in a terrific anthology based on the artwork of Edward Hopper.

Now don't get me wrong, here you will find brutal crimes and murders, criss-crossers, dirty cheats and wanna-be mobsters. There's blood and gore and s*x and beatings. Like I said: Delightful!

These are my thoughts on only a few of these stories. All based on crime and crimes gone wrong. Each tale is preceded by a tidbit from Lansdale himself and I loved those peeks behind the scenes. Whenever he speaks about his process, he makes it sound so natural and easy, but I know it's not for most people. With him, it seems effortless and over the last decade or so he and his effortless storytelling have turned me into a huge fan.

Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Win a copy of YOKE OF STARS, the new Birdverse book by Nebula Award finalist R. B. Lemberg

https://buff.ly/464Tz5p

"Haunting, nuanced, and hopeful, Yoke of Stars is essential reading. Lemberg refuses to look away from the hurt we can do to one another, while reminding us that through listening, labor, and mutual support, we can reject patterns of harm and cultivate something better. In these hard times, Yoke of Stars feels as necessary as air, as water, as kindness."
- Izzy Wasserstein, author of These Fragile Graces, This Fugitive Heart
