When Ben saw the extra earning potential on his family farm he ran with it! But in northern Vermont he face extra challenges to his pasture raised product. For example, his growing season is much shorter than most of the country. To help him to he built a finishing barn for his pigs so that in the summer they can live most of their life outside but the last month is spent in an open air barn. This helps his maintain his supply to his main customers, butcher shops and grocery stores. For his cattle, he is testing out gps collars for invisible fence lines. Using his phone, he can move his cows to the next paddock in their grazing rotation. He is working through some of the learning curve of having these collars but mostly he is excited and pleased with how they are working. Snug Valley Farm

Dani has always had a deep passion for growing her own food. No matter where life took her, she made sure to maintain a garden. However, when life became overwhelming, she found herself sleeping in her car at a Walmart parking lot. These strawberries were grown in towers hydroponically. She disassembled the towers and watering system and reassembled them on a plot of land on a major road between two busy cities. Tim and Sarah started farming together before they even knew they wanted to get married. After 20 years, they have a great business model for cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, turkeys, and more. But they are missing one crucial thing: water. They didn’t know when they bought their property that digging a well is obsolete nor did they know that the city would not lay water lines. Their only option was to buy water at the local water hub next to the fire station. During the heat of the summer they would take up to 10 trips a day, just to have water for their livestock and themselves. So, Tim become resourceful and innovative. He dug ponds and ran drainage lines from his pastures to it along with all the gutter run off. With a solar pump, they now have water access all year long! Autumn's Harvest Farm
