The Mercer Cluster Reporting and advocating for the Mercer community since 1920. The Cluster has been physically published since 1920. Attorney General Griffin B. Bell.

The Cluster is the official student news organization of Mercer University named after a book of songs penned by university founder Jesse Mercer in 1810. The paper currently has a monthly print circulation distributed freely throughout Mercer's campus and downtown Macon businesses. While The Cluster is subsidized by Mercer University, it retains editorial autonomy as a student publication accordin

g to the university's Board of Appropriations bylaws. The newspaper has won numerous student journalism awards over the years, including from the Georgia College Press Association. Its former writers include notables such as longtime publisher Jack Tarver, attorney and author Robert Steed and former U.S. The newspaper’s online edition – MercerCluster.com – was officially launched in February 2011. The Cluster’s current editor-in-chief is Mary Helene Hall.
