WSJ: A new Boeing [US:BA] spacecraft is set to carry astronauts for the first time this week, a major test of whether the much-delayed project is ready to handle NASA missions.

Starliner, the name of Boeing’s gumdrop-shaped ship, is scheduled to blast off Monday at 10:34 p.m. ET, ferrying astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore to the International Space Station. The vehicle is slated to return them to Earth about a week after docking with the facility, landing in the western U.S. under parachutes.
Boeing has developed rockets, spacecraft and other vehicles for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for decades, including hardware for the Apollo moon missions. But the aerospace company has tripped up with Starliner, struggling at times with software, a communications system, valves, parachutes and even a type of tape used in the vehicle. The project has led to $1.4 billion in accounting losses for Boeing.

Monday’s planned mission comes as Boeing faces intense scrutiny over its bread-and-butter airplane business. Lawmakers and airline executives have blasted the company’s manufacturing failures after a segment on one of its planes blew out midair earlier this year, threatening passengers and crew on board. Air-safety regulators have ratcheted up oversight of the company’s operations.

“Spaceflight is risky. It is unforgiving of mistakes,” NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in an interview. “NASA is integrated with Boeing to make sure that this flight is as safe as possible.”

VIA MR PRODUCER: I'm sure you all know about the troubles with the Colorado based owners of Boston Market and all the store closings.

I think they've been closed a year now.

Month ago, I was driving from work to Charley's house and was going down Hulen St when what caught my eye: An open Boston Market!

Went home early and stopped by. Half chicken meal with cream spinach and mashed potatoes. Turns out they're a franchise.

Don't know how this works with inventory they seem to have everything but drinks. No soda fountain so only bottle drinks for sale.

Nice to see that something survived.

First it was Starbucks and some mom and pop chains. Then Dutch Bros started a massive construction campaign and stores across the country.

Scooter's Coffee showed up and even has a bowl game played here.

Peet's, White Rhino, 57th Coffee, Black Rifle and others. Everybody and their mother seems to have a Coffee shop.

Soon the Canadian's will invade deploying Tim Horton's in Saginaw.

Sadly, somebody has to go.

Calls for banning TikTok. What's up with all these TikTok stars dying? Many of them young. Maybe she had someone shadowing her every move tick by tick? Christian person driving her to drink?Hopefully, she didn't any mean people in her life. But hey, her life wasn't private was it?

HAPPY (*)P*E DAY: Within a little over 24 hours from now, Solar Eclipse 2024 will take place.

Some things you might want to do with your cell phone and yourself.

1) If you're using it to video or take pictures use a solar glasses filter. It must be taped over the lense.

If you want just the totality part, use without filters but be prepared to stop before it ends to prevent phone damage.

2) Using your phone for the eclipse trying to get the best pictures? Use a tripod for stability.

3) The ENTIE COUNTRY (well... most of them) will be sending their videos and texts to friends, family and social media. Don't be surprised if you can't.

Cell phone traffic will possibly increase overloading equipment. Possibly even more traffic then there was on 9/11.

3) Top off your gas tank NOW. You don't want to be in traffic and with no gas. Many stations may run out of gas.

People all over are driving into totality areas and staying in hotels and Air B&B for it.

In Mesquite, Tx (Dallas suburb pop. 100,000) visitors staying there are estimated at an additional 70,000 !

So if you're in the path you need to be ready.

4) Be prepared: If you're out away from home have a first aid kit handy. Many watchers could be standing in fields. Be aware for any harmful wildlife around if watching or camping out including birds and snakes.

Be mindful of property. Some have shotguns while others may have wolves, coyotes or bulls.

Pack plenty of water, drinks, snacks and necessary items. Drugs and allergy medications should be in a zip lock bag to keep dry.

BREAKING: Family has announced that Canadian comedian Joe Flaherty has died after a brief illness.

His breakout show SCTV brought him to fame in the U.S. along with John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara and others via PBS stations. His many movie appearances included Happy Gilmore and 1941.

Joe Flaherty was well-known for his work at The Second City in Chicago, the Canadian sketch series "SCTV," and roles in "Happy Gilmore" and “Freaks and Geeks.”
