STOP! The Digital Madness.
High resolution 1bit-to-Analog-to-1bit audiophile finalization and mastering. Successful artists know the importance of mastering in the completion of their projects. Digital Distribution Files - CD - DSD - Audiophile Vinyl!
There is no question that analog recordings sonically sound better. However, digital has become the future and all of us, to one degree or another, are forced to use what is readily available. I like to use the term “social distortion” in reference to the latest digital music mastering techniques. If you think about it, social distortion is an oxymoron to an audiophile. Growing up in the music industry, we used to brag about releasing projects that were high fidelity with a minimum THD (total harmonic distortion). Today, people are into low fidelity and high THD recordings. When it comes to current finalizing and mastering, obscene levels of compression squash the signal to boost the volume to absurd broadcast levels. In essence, the industry has created a volume war. This gives the artist's music an unfavorable signal to noise ratio. In other words, we listen to loud distorted tracks. To add insult to injury, these distorted tracks are listened to on phones or iPods with earphones or cheesy 1-inch laptop speakers. When a major artist invests $500K to record a sonic masterpiece in the studio, what is the point of listening to it through digital junk? Sadly, in our attempts to improve technology we have lost sonic integrity in our music. But now, Earful Recording and Earful Mastering provides a refreshing ear of musical sonic character. Earful Recording uses a minimal approach to recording captures, even eliminating the recording console in our Live-to-2track 2x1bit technology recordings. The 1bit DSD recording technology has such an incredible dynamic range capability that the use of compression is not necessary to capture without distortion or clipping, whether it is a philharmonic orchestra or a metal rock group. And the capture is as close to analog recording character as technology has ever given us. The recorded tracks are then taken into the Earful Mastering lab utilizing a 1bit-to-Analog-to-1bit mastering technology signal flow and the final recorded results are stunningly real on playback with life and dimensionality. These recordings deserve proper playback on a quality audio system. They demand it.
