Jamie spent the weekend in London, hanging with other podcasters and wandering the wood. If you know Wooden Overcoats, Cry Havoc, the new Missy audio series (Doctor Who) or a host of others, then you’re already in love with Beth Eyre’s voice. And Sara Lynam is one-quarter of the creepy theater/audio troupe Uncanny Collective, and among other things the voice of the Great Capybara in the Sky in Goat Simulator 3 (😱). Go forth and know them better!

Thank you to everyone who listens to our show. We would never have believed when we started this in Jamie’s basement that it would grow into fifty-five episodes, five complete story lines, live shows, and more to come. And one million downloads. We are so grateful.

Happy birthday to our composer, Ian Ridenhour! In addition to revamping the theme music every season, he creates all incidental music and some miscellaneous sound effects. (That string quartet in the Christmas episode? All Ian). He makes us sound amazing!

Happy to see Palimpsest at #2 on the Psychological All-Time leaderboard over at Goodpods, and #4 on the Haunting chart. Goodpods oddly doesn’t separate non-fiction from fiction, so we’re beating out actual psychology podcasts? Sorry about that, trained serious psychologists. The Man in the Black Suit is not to be trifled with.

This is us recording the last piece of season five. We had a listening party for friends, and everyone agreed that one line wasn’t working. So we went down to the studio right then, friends in tow, and re-recorded the line before the episode dropped.

Anybody wanna guess what two-word line from the finale was recorded with an audience two weeks after the main recording session? (No fair guessing if you were in the room with us)

We didn’t take many pictures at yesterday’s Secret Listening Party to celebrate the end of Season Five. But the whole team was there (including our composer, who played the theme song live) and fifteen or so friends and listeners. We had an early listen to the finale, and drank absinthe and champagne. Just like Lenore would have wanted.

We are full of feelings. Tonight we recorded the final episode of season five. It’s fitting we wrapped up this special season by recording a werewolf chase scene on the full moon. The episode drops March 5th, ending Lenore’s story. Get ready.

Happy birthday to Edgar Allan Poe, from whom all things flow. You may have noticed that not only does our current season have a heroine named Lenore, but there are several ravens on the grounds of Maison d’Aubépine. Lenore first appeared in 2022 in our Visitation episode “Dancing Queen,” which was a disco retelling of “Masque of the Red Death.” We liked her so much we gave her her own season!
