One more video looking back on 2024. We produced this one for The Tristesse Grief Center. We wanted to show how its counseling services and programs can help families navigate the loss of a loved one. We developed this story and identified the two families we profiled in our Video Marketing Workshop.

I'd love to help your organization create videos that develop emotional connections. Send me a message if you want to talk about the process and how we can get started.

📖 **People may forget what you said, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.**

That’s the power of storytelling.

In a world full of noise, the brands, creators, and marketers who stand out are the ones who connect emotionally. Why? Because *stories resonate*. They make us feel something—joy, hope, inspiration, even nostalgia—and that’s what drives action.

🎥 Whether it’s through video, social media, or any content, **stories turn your message into an experience**:

- They **humanize your brand**

- They make your audience **care about what you offer**

- And most importantly, they build **trust**

💡 **Want to create content that sticks? Start with the story.**

Lead with emotion, connect with purpose, and you’ll leave an impression that lasts.

What’s a story that’s recently made *you* feel something? Let’s share below. 👇

A friend of mine once said when talking about video projects, ‘Fix it in planning.’ I can’t think of a better way to sum up this video we produced for Youth Services of Tulsa earlier this year.

Youth Services provides life changing services and programs for children and young adults. We produced this video for their annual fundraiser. Our goal for the project was to show real life examples of how Youth Services impacts lives. We decided to profile three former clients but instead of the traditional sit down interviews we asked each former client to write a thank you letter to Youth Services and read them on camera.

By telling the story in this style we’re allowing the former clients the opportunity to say anything they want to say in any way they want to say it. It gives the tone of the video a sense of authenticity and realism.

It follows the construction of a new home for Carolyn Shockey after her mobile home was seriously damaged in a tornado. R.O.A.D. does amazing work in Oklahoma to help families who have no where else to turn. Click below to watch the video and see how we produced it. You can also learn the reasons behind some of the editorial decisions.

There are some amazing organizations working to make Oklahoma a better place and I’ve had the good fortune to partner with one who responds after disaster strikes. Recovering Oklahomans After Disaster helps Oklahomans whose homes have been damaged due to a natural disaster. This is a video I edited for ROAD showcasing the work it does and how far it reaches across our state. ROAD couldn’t do all this without you’re help so if you’re looking to make a donation as the year winds down I highly recommend them: https://disasterroad.org

I was honored to have the opportunity to write this story. Sooner Marketing shot all of the video and edited it together but I wrote the script. Charles Meadows, Sr led a wonderful life and served his country proudly. I'm proud to have been able to write his story and show how Soldiers Wish made a dream come true for him.

HR always has enough on their hands – you can give them a break with onboarding and training videos for new employees. Putting a face and a voice to the instructions can ensure a more personable, welcoming experience for your new team member.

This can be as simple as a welcome greeting from the CEO or as detailed as how to sign up for benefits, or how use a system your company uses on a regular basis.

A variation on this is an onboarding video for new customers welcoming them to the community and walking them through how to use your product.

I’m curious how everyone got their start in their career. I don’t necessarily mean your first professional job but what’s something you did before you started your career, a job or volunteer opportunity that taught you important skills related to what would become your career.

I knew I wanted to go into radio and needed to practice reading a script so I volunteered to record magazines articles for the blind. I forget the name of the organization but I would go once a week and record the latest issue of Sooners Illustrated. I think I was around 18 years old at the time. I really enjoyed doing it as it gave me a chance to practice recording a script. Plus, I was going to read that issue anyway so why not do two things at once!

I’d love to hear from you. Leave your first career related experience in the comments.

It's easy to get overwhelmed with the big picture when you're looking to create a marketing video but if you break it down the process is actually very simple. ⬇️

Step 1: Take a deep breath. We’re not going to develop a complicated marketing strategy for the next five years. We’re just going to work on your first video. Ready?

Step 2: Ask yourself, “What do I want this video to do?”

Do you want to raise money, increase brand awareness, or lead to more sales? Maybe you want to build trust or credibility, or maybe you want to introduce a new product.

Whatever your purpose for the video, it’s good to figure out what that central reason is, because it will lead to your next steps.

Step 3: Figure out the emotional tone of this video. Will it be happy, inspiring, sentimental, informative, etc.?

Step 4: Think through who will be featured in the video. This could be employees, happy clients, you as the owner or your business, etc. You should also determine what b-roll (the action video you see while someone is talking) you’ll need to shoot.

Step 5: Whittle down each of these categories to the core of what you want the viewer to do after watching your video.

That’s it! You now have a solid plan for your first video.

If you’d like some help making all of this happen, head over to https://www.bewleyproductions.com and book a call. I’d love to help you out!

I had the pleasure of producing this video for Town & Country School. Our goal was to show how the school changes the lives of its students and families. We decided the best way to do that was to profile two families. I really appreciate their willingness to speak with us and tell their stories. It’s not easy to go in front of a camera and share your life with the public. It often means talking about uncomfortable moments and shining a light on things that you may rather keep to yourself. It takes a lot of trust for families to step forward like this. Thank you to the Frankenburger and Sutton families for trusting me.
