It sure feels great to be back on the BBQ trail! After not being able to cook since January—and not on our own equipment since November—we had a little rust to knock off and some kinks to work out with a new setup. But pulling into the comp Thursday evening, reconnecting with the over dinner and exploring this lively little town complete with a very active train🚂 and a cool vibe-y craft brewery🍻, reminded us why we love this.
The cook itself went smoothly, though not without a few missteps. With limited practice lately, we were still optimistic for a solid showing—and while we turned in some good food, it just wasn’t quite enough to hear our name called this time around.

Huge congrats to our friends who had a great weekend—especially my brother Poppa Pig BBQ on the GC and our awesome neighbors Swig-N-Pig BBQ Team on the RGC! Congratulations to everyone who heard their name this weekend!
Next up: we’re heading west where we’ll visit with some family and, of course, cook more BBQ. New Mexico here we come!
