Air Safari “Mowabb” (2004) : A bit ironic that the shoe that helped Nike to GO OUTSIDE was inspired in part by something that lives inside.

Released in 2004, this LE version of the Air Safari pays homage to the Mowabb.

On the Low : The AJ 16 & 17 are arguably better than their taller counterparts.

The 16 converts with a flip collar & held down by a magnet.

The 17 has a raised inner sleeve, and yes MJ played in ‘em (Lightning & PE in NBA games).

Which shoe is better in your opinion? And can we at least agree that there could be room for more 16 lows beyond the 2 original release colorways….

Air Burst : Are they a classic in your eyes?

Debuting in 1994, they mixed a familiar Air Max 1 look with Air Max ‘93 tooling. The colorways kept coming well into the late 2000’s.

How do you pick a hoops shoe? Get fooled by the rocks that they’ve got? (hype)

In the early 2000’s, Professor K took performance reviews to the next level, offering tech info and who the shoes were suited for (Guards / Forwards, etc). This was shared along with high quality images to help discerning ballers understand what was being offered.

Also in the early 2000’s : ISS was growing and continued adding some of the more difficult to find models, often referring to Kicksology reviews in the captions.

Do you remember reading a performance review and been swayed one way or the other? Or simply learned more about the idea behind the shoes?

Here we focus on the Air Max Elite, a shoe designed by .ac.cooper which was offered in Team Bank, Elite, Battlegrounds, and a low.

The landscape of reviews has changed a lot in the past 20 something years, with reviews often calling out the use of colors and maybe a herringbone traction pattern.

🫡 to Professor K and his level of depth and effort in this era. It didn’t go unnoticed.

Starting in ‘94, the Air Jordan line would continue in several directions thanks to the first Retro 3.

They would also continue (to this day) with newer game shoes while layering in certain Retro models.

When Melo came to NBA, he was the new face of the Jumpman Brand. He wore several variations of the AJ XII, with the blue bottoms hitting retail in both wmns and men’s sizing in 2004.

It’s been announced that they are expected to drop again….

Sneaker shopping in the early 90’s felt different for a lot of reasons, maybe just the way we picked out what we wanted.

What would you have grabbed if you walked into this shop in 1992? Would the answer change with 2024 eyes….

Playoff & Oly VII’s hung around back then and even went on sale. That was not considered the end of sneakers, it’s just how it was.
