There is almost unanimous agreement that the Federal Reserve will do a rate reduction in September. I am speaking with a lot of people that are "waiting" for rates to drop in September before beginning to look for a house.

Here's a little insight into the world of mortgage rates. Mortgage rates today have already priced in the probable rate reduction so it is already baked into mortgage rates today. Any changes in Fed rates on Sept. 18th are already be calculated into mortgage rates so we will not be seeing a big drop in mortgage rates on that date.

If you're looking to purchase a home in the near future, don't wait until mid September thinking rates are going to drop a bunch that week - the Fed rate drop is already anticipated and priced into mortgage rates.

While not celebrating a poor employment report for July ..... this does make it look more likely that the FED will reduce rates in September.

The July jobs report comes at a critical moment as investors weigh whether the labor market is still normalizing to pre-pandemic levels or flashing signs of a more significant economic downturn ahead.

Interesting chart taken from data on the employment report released today. Over the last year, 943k native-born Americans lost jobs on net, while foreign-born workers picked up almost 1.2 million jobs.

Report showed 206,000 new jobs added last month. Unemployment rose to 4.1%. April and May initial jobs report revised downward by a total of 110,000 jobs (pretty big miss on the initial reporting).

With employment showing continuing signs of weakening ..... does the FED reduce rates in 2024 ???
