Sliding Compartment Shelf From Scrap. I needed a sliding shelf for an upcoming project and didn't want to spend the money to buy one. There was a lot of unused Unistrut channel and plywood around. So that's what I ended up using. After cutting the plywood down, I added some aluminum 90 deg srips for guide rails. Finally, I added a spare drawer slider mounted sideways for a smooth in and out, then bolted it all to the compartment with 3/8" bolts. Works great!

An AMAZING and unforgettable experience being approached by friendly and playful Gray Whales and their calves in the salty bays of Baja 😌.
Each year, these gentle giants leave their summer home in Alaska and head south to the warm salty waters of this protected bay (a nature preserve) in Baja to raise their calves. The extra salty water here makes the calves more buoyant making it easier to swim. Makes sense since we literally drove through a salt mine to get here.
They should be on their way back to Alaska by now. Safe travels my friends! Crazy to think that we too had a similar migration this last 10 months. 🤪
2023 Diablo Run Party - San Felipe, Baja
There was a party on the Malecon when we arrived in San Felipe (Baja). Turns out, the after party following the 2023 Diablo Run motorcycle event was in full swing. It was such a fun night checking out the amazing bikes, drinking margaritas, eating churros, listening to music and making friends.

Are High Voltage Solar Panels Better for RV? Using Higher voltage solar panels on your RV has it's benefits when used with a good MPPT solar charge controller.
Here are the benefits:
(1) There's less voltage drop at higher voltages allowing you to use thinner (or lighter gauge) cables saving you money and simplifying the install
(2) The MPPT solar controller will start charging earlier in the day and continue charging later in the day when the incoming voltage is significantly higher than the battery system voltage. This increases your solar charging window throughout the day and will generate more power.
(3) Bonus Benefit: High voltage solar panels typically have a higher energy density than smaller panels. This allows you to produce more solar power with fewer panels. It will also simplifying your cabling.

Used Solar Panels - GOOD or JUNK? Tips for Buying and Testing Pre-Owned Solar Panels
How to SAVE BIG $$$ on Solar Panels - Tips for Buying and Testing Pre-Owned Solar Panels for your RV
You can save thousands by buying high quality used solar panels for your RV Solar project. Here's how.
(1) Buy from a reputable source that tests and warranty's their solar panels.
SanTan Solar in Arizon is my preferred source for used (and new) solar danels.
Check their used/new solar panel inventory here: https://www.rvwithtito.com/santansolar
TIP: Order a couple more than you need in case you need a spare.
If you're lucky, you can get very high quality solar panels at a fraction of the cost.
(2) Ask about Shipping Costs
If using SanTan Solar, you can pick them up in Arizona and save on shipping costs. If you're too far away, pay for freight shipping and have them delivered to your doorstep. If you save big on the used panels, then the freight costs will still be worth it.
I spent roughly $470 for a pallet of 8 very large solar panels shipped from Tuscon, AZ to Washington State.
(3) Inspect the solar panels upon arrival
When the truck arrives, be sure to inspect the solar panels to make sure the condition is as advertised. How are the cables? Connectors? Frame? Glass?
(4) Test the panels
While the sun is shining use a multi-meter to test the solar panel using the technique demostrated in the video.
Compare the Open Circuit Voltage (Voc) and Short Circuit Current (Isc) readings to the solar panel ratings. If the readings are signifantly lower (in full sun) it could indicate a problem with the panel.
