Tonight we’re enjoying Scarlet from Botanist and Barrel! This dry cider is made from locally harvested apples and is aged on Cabernet Franc skins. It results in a rosé colored wine with a lot going on. There are subtle spices like nutmeg and allspice with a floral note tying it together. There are red fruits, mostly strawberry and some cranberry. The natural yeast fermentation gives this a slightly wild character but it is definitely tame and easy drinking.

With Carolina CiderFest soon approaching we wanted to share a few questions we have been asked so far

-Where should I park? There will be parking in the area and the closest parking garage is located across the street at 45 Federal Alley, Asheville, NC 28801

-Is there a pre-party? Yes! Noble Cider will be hosting a pre-party June 21st from 6-9pm

-What does VIP include? Early entry, VIP Area Sponsored by South Slope Cheese: Includes a Viewing Area, Charcutier, Special Releases from Cideries that are not at Festival and a Pairing of (3) Cideries and Cheeses at 1:30 pm inside Urban Orchard

-Will there be food? Yes, we have multiple vendors selling food during the festival

What’s up Cider Fans!

Our field correspondent is at it again!

This time she is bringing us a review of some selections!

At 8% abv, you would expect a dry cider, but the flavored offerings from Downeast are surprisingly on the sweet side. The beginning of the cider, right out of the fridge was a good balance of apple and added flavors, but as it warmed the others flavors took over. Their Overboard cider was semi sweet but had a the tiniest hint of the “funk” we love from the cider being unfiltered. Overall, not a bad choice of cider! Especially when you are hanging out at !!
