In the dystopian science fiction drama Gattaca, a young man named Vincent, had every supposed defect imaginable. In this movie eugenics is common. A genetic registry database uses biometrics to classify people as "valids" while those conceived naturally are known as "in-valids." Vincent was conceived naturally, and his genetic profile indicated a high probability of several disorders and a short lifespan. He was told by everyone around him that he would have to settle for a meaningless life. Vincent didn't accept that fate. His parents regretted their decision and used genetic selection in conceiving their second child, Anton. Vincent and Anton would often challenge each other to swim out into the ocean as far as they could go. The first one to turn back would lose. Vincent would always lose until they met one last time. Vincent changed his mindset and took action to make things happen. As they began to swim out Anton cries out:
"Vincent! Vincent! Where's the shore? We're too far out."
"Do you want to quit?" Vincent asks.
Pausing and considering his safety, Anton pridefully yells, "No!" both of them keep swimming further out into the darkness of the ocean.
Then, Anton pauses and calls out, "Vincent! How are you doing this? Vincent, how have you done this? We have to go back."
"No it's too late for that. We are closer to the other side," Vincent says.
"What other side? Do you want to drown us both?" Anton says.
Vincent then says to him "YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW I DID IT? THIS IS HOW I DID IT, I NEVER SAVED ANYTHING FOR THE SWIM BACK! Anton then turns back to shore tired and starts to drown and Vincent saves him.
You are more important than you can imagine! It is not what you want it is what you believe. Never accept anyone's degrading comments. Nothing is impossible. You are packed with marvelous possibilities. Flood your mind with plenty and abundance and take action on your perfect path.
I wrote this poem today and I post it here in hope to hearten the discouraged and to give uplift to anyone in need.
A Divinity Within
By Jordan Casal
A divinity within we must claim;
It’s all part of this mysterious game.
It is time to remember who we are.
With breath, we can go depths afar.
We have a divine right to be able to see.
Inferior thoughts will put you into poverty.
Oh, how we pinch our abundant supply,
While abundance is trying to catch our eye.
With larger faith and belief in possibility,
We can rid ourselves of fear and timidity.
Working in harmony shall open the gates.
Prosperity and opulence is what awaits.
Mediocrity cannot survive in our space,
While superiority takes its place.
You are more than you can imagine.
GO OUT! And make it happen.
