No, VELVET CHAINS isn’t an unreleased Lana Del Rey track. It is a romance novel by Constance O’Banyon published in 1985 by the ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ people at Zebra Books.
It has pirates, a masked lover who is secretly the regular ol’ love interest, desert islands, plantations, General George Washington, and slavery apologetics.
But does it have wit? Charm? S*x appeal?
Um………………..
One thing we can clearly share about this novel without spoiling the episode - it reminds us of how truly C.O.M.P.L.E.X Romance is.

Whoa!mance or No mance?

A feminist podcast dedicated to bodice busters, beefy scots, and ourselves.

Morgan and Isabeau began their podcast journey on a warm Chicago night, when Isabeau lamented the idea that academia doesn’t take genre fiction seriously. Specifically romance, a space almost exclusively dominated by badass women for badass women. Morgan looked at Isabeau and said, “If you had a podcast it’d be called Whoa!mance.” In that moment our love story was born.
