Shout out to Fall 2025 STEM Trailblazer feature Brandon Okpalobi is a dynamic Nigerian-American leader in STEM education, innovation, and youth empowerment. Based in Miami, he designs scalable STEM ecosystems that guide students from early exposure to long-term career readiness—bridging classrooms, communities, and high-growth industries. Originally from New Orleans and a former athlete, Brandon founded Dibia Athletic in 2011 to help youth build confidence, academic skills, and leadership through the fusion of sports and problem-solving. The program has supported student-athletes in Bermuda, Miami, and New Orleans, opening doors to scholarships and future opportunities. To expand STEM access, he launched Dibia DREAM in 2014—now a global force in STEM equity. Serving more than 45,000 children across 32 states and 12 countries, DREAM offers immersive, hands-on learning that fuels innovation, builds technical skills, and removes systemic barriers for historically underserved communities. Recognizing the need for learning continuity at home, Brandon created Siyanse , providing expertly designed STEM kits and curriculum that empower families to nurture scientific thinking from toddlerhood through adolescence.
As host of Hands-On STEM on Discovery Education, he extended this work to more than 600,000 youth, inspiring students to see themselves as scientists, engineers, and creators shaping the future. Brandon’s national recognition includes the Forbes Next 1000 List, Black Enterprise Modern Man, and acknowledgment from President Obama’s Council on Fitness. A proud member of the Orange Bowl Committee, he remains committed to building an inclusive global STEM culture where every young person has a clear pathway to innovation, economic mobility, and the careers of tomorrow.
