New Zealander Jack Jordan was crowned as champion of the Stihl Timbersports World Trophy 2024 on Saturday in Milan, Italy. The tournament featured 16 timber athletes from all around the world testing their skills in various disciplines.

Woodcraft Portland closing: Woodcraft in Tigard, OR will be closing in two or three weeks. Discounts on all items in the store have been increased to 25% (except Festool) with all wood priced at 35% discount. There is still a good supply of domestic and exotic hardwoods in stock, but it is going fast. (From Guild of Oregon Newsletter)

This follows the closure of the Woodcraft store in Orange County, CA in December, the Rockler store in Pasadena, CA this Spring, and the Rockler store in Torrance, CA in June.

In the September-October, 2022 issue, Woodworker West magazine featured wood sculptor Humaira Abid and her exhibition Searching for Home. This exhibit is coming to Southern California, May 24-August 18, at the USC Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. Through objects sculpted from wood, this exhibit personalizes the continuing humanitarian crisis of global refugees and reflects on the toll of ruined lives.

Hakone Gardens Exhibition Event
The third Kezuroukai-sponsored exhibition is this Sunday, April 14 5:00-7:00pm at the Hakone Gardens in Saratoga CA. Using the annual “light-up the garden” as the backdrop, this event features extended conversations around the unique roof top carvings, the techniques, and history, as well as unveiling the carvings done by Gentaro Nishiura and others.

The first 2024 PAST tool collectors' event will be Saturday, April 20th at the Spreckels Veterans Memorial Building located at 90 Fifth St. Spreckels, CA 93962.
