Blakeslee PA - The Poconos Region -
Two reports, same time of year, within 5 miles from each other, nearly 30 years apart.

In 2021, we were contacted by a seasonal homeowner who lives in the Blakeslee area. He does not live in a development, owns nearly 20 acres of land and has few neighbors. In March of 2021, he was working on brush removal in the back of his property. His property backs up to nearly 2000 acres of preserved property. Around dusk, he was getting ready to head back to his cottage. As he was collecting tools, he observed a large back and shoulder of an unknown creature. He said that the back and shoulders were well over 6 feet from the ground. He said that as quickly he saw this, the creature had covered 10 to 15 meet with little effort. He saw the back of his head, which he said was covered with hair. He described the hair as brownish black. He said that he was very afraid since he believed the creature was watching him without his knowledge.

I was recently contacted by a witness who said that he saw something similar, only about 5 miles away. The biggest difference, this was in 1993. In 1993, our witness was on a camping trip with friends from college. He said that they went in late May of that year. He said that they were traveling down the Lehigh River as it flowed into Francis Walter Dam. They decided to make camp near the mouth of Stony Run. He said that they made camp before sunset. He said that there was a full moon that rose early on that night. This allowed there to be plenty of natural light, even without the sun. As he and friends were getting close to a boulder field near the mouth of the creek, he saw what appeared to be a "boulder" stand up. He said that they realized what they saw was not a boulder but a creature of immense size. He estimated the creature to be at least 7 feet tall. He said they watched in awe as the creature walked effortlessly over boulders and rocks to reach the treeline. He said that once it made the treeline, they still didn't feel safe. He said they walked for almost two hours along a fire road until they hit Route 115 and found a bar that was open. The owners of the bar graciously drove them to the Dam where the rest of their party was now waiting.

Both of these encounters happened several years apart but within a close distance. If we expand the radius of distance slightly and the years back further, we can find several more reports. The most famous of those is the Suscon Screamer. More on that in another post.

The Poconos may be a place to hike, fish and relax. But in the Spring of the year, there may be something else in the woods.
