A man has been rescued thanks to the swift actions of two off-duty first responders who alerted him to a fire at his residence.
On Saturday evening, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the pair were driving through the Town of Glencoe in Buffalo County when they spotted a large fire on Pansy Pass.
Initially mistaking it for a bonfire, they soon realized it was a house fire and promptly called 911. After attempting to alert the occupants, they forcibly entered the residence and found a 50-year-old man asleep inside.
The man and his dog were safely escorted outside, with the man stating he had been unaware of the fire until awakened by the off-duty responders.
