Hurricane Francine has intensified — now has maximum sustained winds of 90 mph with pressure down to 977mb. Center of the storm is 275 miles southwest of Morgan City.

Landfall likely this afternoon/evening in Louisiana. Potential for this storm to approach Category 2 intensiy, which is 96-110mph.

Potential Tropical Cyclone 6 will develop into tropical storm Francine in the next 12-24 hours as it move north toward the north central Gulf coast. It is expected to be a category 1 hurricane by Wed. morning making landfall late Wednesday between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge.

Según datos recientes aún no cuenta con un centro bien definido sin embargo está produciendo vientos de 40 a 45 mph / 65 a 75 km/h en el sector Oeste. Es probable que muy pronto este sistema se convierta en una Depresión Tropical o Tormenta Tropical. Se prevén condiciones ambientales favorables para su desarrollo e incluso se espera un fortalecimiento adicional a mediados de la próxima semana.
✈️Un Avión Cazahuracanes va en camino a investigar a este sistema.
🚨Residentes en México en la costa del Golfo, Texas y Louisiana deben estar atentos al progreso de este sistema.

STORM THREAT - Confidence is increasing of a tropical storm or hurricane strike to Texas or Louisiana on Wednesday into Thursday. The National Hurricane Center is expected to issue a cone and watches later today or tonight. Residents in Texas and Louisiana need to pay close attention to the forecast and be prepared for tropical impacts including heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding midweek.

While we don’t know if the wave will develop, it does seem like, at least initially, it is headed for the Caribbean. The heat available in the Caribbean is always copious, but this summer it’s extra copious - at record levels.

This tropical wave in the Bahamas is the one I’m keeping my eye on as it enters the Gulf this weekend. Again, the signal for a storm isn’t very high but you watch these things closely at this time of year. Better rain chances look to be the big impact by the middle of next week.
