This is what we were so excited to discover yesterday! Trail bologna evokes memories of hubby's family trips to Lake Erie. We have been trying to find it locally for years, but to no avail. We would always stop for some at Bergman’s Orchard in Port Clinton, Ohio. Sometimes, it's the smallest things that are the biggest.

A few of the goodies I got yesterday when we made a short trip to a local Amish community. Flavor Gator plums. Never had this variety. Nice rose colored flesh and sweet. Dried fruits. Rye flour and they had rye berries to mill. Very happy to find it this cheap. We love rye bread. Lard, sorghum, and “pet milk” IYKYK Of course, we had to go to the meat processor too. Do you like to go to Amish/Mennonite stores?

Funny how I picked up a bag of dried elderberry yesterday to make some syrup and woke up feeling yuck today. Not sure if it’s allergies (had fluid on my ears yesterday when I went for a medical follow-up) or a cold. What’s your opinion of elderberry syrup? What’s your favorite recipe?
