The Germantown Police Department is starting a hiring process where we hope to hire up to six officers. In 2024, the Village of Germantown budgeted for four additional officers. We are still looking to fill two of those positions. We have received additional funding, through the 2024 Public Safety Referendum, for four additional officers in 2025.

Over the years, law enforcement, as with many vocations, has seen a steady decrease in the number of applicants for open positions. Thirty years ago, I was hired, along with one other officer, from a pool of several hundred applicants. Now, we are fortunate to receive over 20 applications during the hiring process. While the quality of candidates is outstanding, we are still competing against all other agencies from a limited number of applicants.

If you have any interest in law enforcement, please reach out to our agency. I will gladly answer any questions you may have, as will any member of our staff. After thirty years of service, I still feel this is the most noble profession with an amazing opportunity to serve.

Please know, this department enjoys outstanding support from the community. The Germantown community understands the challenging nature of this profession. They understand the truth, and that is that the overwhelming majority of officers have served, and continue to serve, with integrity and a commitment to justice. You will be supported by a community and department that truly appreciates the officers who stepped up to protect our citizens.

I fear there are those who may be dissuaded from pursuing a career in law enforcement because of the malicious attacks on our great profession and baseless accusations that cannot be substantiated. Do not be deterred by this. What can be more noble than to embrace the responsibility to serve even those who despise you without reason? As noted, the vast majority of people support and value this profession.

Please do not miss out on this opportunity to serve and make a difference.

“Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,” (Matthew 20:26b, NIV)

Mission Statement:

To courageously serve our community by protecting constitutional rights and providing for the safety of our citizens in a manner that ensures accountability for all.

🚧 Hickory Hills and Glenwood Park Paving Update! 🚧

We wanted to keep you in the loop! The first layer of asphalt on School Rd and other roads in Hickory Hills was delayed on Saturday due to unexpected supply issues. We've been working closely with our contractor, and we're happy to report that paving is expected to resume this Wednesday!

To minimize disruption, especially near County Line Elementary, work will be carefully scheduled around peak drop-off and pick-up times.

In the meantime, we’ve added extra gravel to smooth out transitions for easier driving. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our roads!

Stay tuned for more updates! 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

Reminder that construction begins today on Maple Road from Appleton Avenue to the I-41 bridge. The road will be closed during construction. The closure will be relatively brief, lasting approximately 2-3 weeks. This project is addressing the poor pavement conditions in that segment. The northern segment, from the I-41 bridge to Mequon Road, will be addressed in a future year.https://www.germantownwi.gov/176/Construction-Projects
