Thousands of Ukrainian men have paid large sums in bribes to avoid getting drafted during the ongoing conflict between Kiev and Moscow, the Financial Times reported on Saturday.

Briton Who Killed Terminally Ill Wife Freed After Sentencing
On Monday, a British man, David Hunter, who was found guilty of manslaughter for killing his terminally ill wife in Cyprus, was released after effectively serving the time already.
He told a Cyprus court she had blood cancer and "begged him" to take her life because she was in so much pain. He complied with her wishes in December 2021, causing her death by asphyxiation at their retirement home in Paphos.
The case may serve as a significant test for a country that does not allow assisted dying and could potentially influence discussions on euthanasia under medical supervision in Cyprus's parliament later this year, according to media reports.
