Day 6 of volunteering and walking dogs. Stabler (black/brown) and Stickers (white with brown patch). I also walked Magenta (not pictured as she is too hard to walk as it is without trying to get her to sit for a photo). Stabler has become one of my favorites as he is so gentle and loving. He is a special needs pup and urgently needs a foster or forever home so that his person can monitor his needs at night.

Stickers is deaf and walking her is definitely challenging because of that, but once she trusts you, she is so sweet! She definitely loves to stop and investigate everything!

Beacon and Walter loved having Mae over for the weekend! It was lots of fun chasing each other around the backyard and they even got in the kiddie pool today. They tried to take over the bed but weren't successful! Back to school tomorrow

So thankful for my Service Dog Beacon. My first time in the ER with him and I had to have my appendix removed last night and this guy made sure to be here for me. When we were in triage last night, he kept alerting me over and over while I kept feeling worse. Now he is back to comforting me in my lap while I rest up before I get to go home. -Shawn

On our last day of our stay we went to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Beacon says those are some big trees! Even got to overlook Kings Canyon, most of the road into the canyon is still closed due to road damage from the winter. More pics to come later.

Stonehenge II

Stonehenge II was created as an art project by the late Al Shepperd, a Hill Country Arts Foundation patron, and his neighbor Doug Hill more than 20 years ago on Shepperd’s land in nearby Hunt, Texas.

It took nine months to build and is 90 percent the height and 60 percent the width as the original. Giving free range to his fanciful notion, Shepperd added two 13-foot Easter Island head replicas for good measure.
After Shepperd’s death, the megalithic circle along with its Easter Island sidekicks needed a new home.

In an effort to preserve this true Texas landmark, the sculptures were relocated stone-by-stone to their final resting place beside the Guadalupe River on the campus of the Hill Country Arts Foundation.
