WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING....

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say,’ Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'

Conversations are one of the most important parts of homeschooling as learning takes place in an organic serendipitous fashion regardless of our attempts to contain and control it.

Taking time to listen and converse with a child is priceless!

😭🙌🏼There was a moment when Moses had the nerve to ask God what his name is. God was gracious enough to answer, and the name he gave is recorded in the original Hebrew as YHWH.

Over time we’ve arbitrarily added an “a” and an “e” in there to get YaHWeH, presumably because we have a preference for vowels.

But scholars and Rabi’s have noted that the letters YHWH represent breathing sounds, or aspirated consonants. When pronounced without intervening vowels, it actually sounds like breathing.

YH (inhale): WH (exhale).

So a baby’s first cry, his first breath, speaks the name of God.

A deep sigh calls His name – or a groan or gasp that is too heavy for mere words.

Even an atheist would speak His name, unaware that their very breathe is giving constant acknowledgment to God.

Likewise, a person leaves this earth with their last breath, when God’s name is no longer filing their lungs.

So when I can’t utter anything else, is my cry calling out His name?

Being alive means I speak His name constantly.
So, is it heard the loudest when I’m the quietest?

In sadness, we breathe heavy sighs.
In joy, our lungs feel almost like they will burst.
In fear we hold our breath and have to be told to breathe slowly to help us calm down.
When we’re about to do something hard, we take a deep breath to find our courage.

When I think about it, breathing is giving him praise. Even in the hardest moments!

This is so beautiful and fills me with emotion every time I grasp the thought. God chose to give himself a name that we can’t help but speak every moment we’re alive.

All of us, always, everywhere.
Waking, sleeping, breathing, with the name of God on our lips.

❤️

𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦,⁣

taking showers, warm and steady rain droplets awakening our skin, with little faces smushed up against the glass asking us to draw letters with steam. Never alone.⁣

𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦,⁣

rushed mornings after sleepless nights sitting in a rocking chair nursing. Yelling while handing older children breakfast bars on their way out the door. And not feeling enough.⁣

𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦,⁣

having someone always on us and tripping over toys because hanging children block the view of where we’re going.⁣

𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦,⁣

the houseful of middle schoolers and teenagers hanging out after dance or soccer and eating half the house.⁣

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦’𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘵.⁣

We’ll miss needy arms reaching up for us.⁣
We’ll miss the light that fills our children’s eyes when they see us walk into a room.⁣
We’ll miss being the last person they want to see every night and the first person they ask for every morning. ⁣
We’ll miss the empty cabinets of food.⁣

𝘞𝘦’𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭.⁣

Because everything in motherhood is just a phase, and there's comfort in that at times.⁣

But that means once it’s over,⁣
it’s over.⁣

And we can't see it day-to-day, but time’s moving, and our children are constantly changing.⁣

We only have one chance to know our toddler, elementary-aged kid, middle schooler, and high schooler.⁣

And no season's enjoyable every moment, but they're all fleeting.⁣

So, yes, it’s just a phase,⁣
but then⁣

My dad has bees.Today I went to his house and he showed me all of the honey he had gotten from the hives. He took the lid off of a 5 gallon bucket full of honey and on top of the honey there were 3 little bees, struggling. They were covered in sticky honey and drowning. I asked him if we could help them and he said he was sure they wouldn't survive. Casualties of honey collection I suppose.

I asked him again if we could at least get them out and kill them quickly, after all he was the one who taught me to put a suffering animal (or bug) out of its misery. He finally conceded and scooped the bees out of the bucket. He put them in an empty Chobani yogurt container and put the plastic container outside.

Because he had disrupted the hive with the earlier honey collection, there were bees flying all over outside.

We put the 3 little bees in the container on a bench and left them to their fate. My dad called me out a little while later to show me what was happening. These three little bees were surrounded by all of their sisters (all of the bees are females) and they were cleaning the sticky nearly dead bees, helping them to get all of the honey off of their bodies. We came back a short time later and there was only one little bee left in the container. She was still being tended to by her sisters.

When it was time for me to leave we checked one last time and all three of the bees had been cleaned off enough to fly away and the container was empty.
Those three little bees lived because they were surrounded by family and friends who would not give up on them, family and friends who refused to let them drown in their own stickiness and resolved to help until the last little bee could be set free.

Bee Sisters. Bee Peers. Bee Teammates.

We could all learn a thing or two from these bees.

Bee kind always.~

23/01/2022

Gillian is a seven-year-old girl who cannot sit in school. She continually gets up, gets distracted, flies with thoughts, and doesn't follow lessons. Her teachers worry about her, punish her, scold her, reward the few times that she is attentive, but nothing. Gillian does not know how to sit and cannot be attentive.

When she comes home, her mother punishes her too. So not only does she Gillian have bad grades and punishment at school, but she also suffers from them at home.

One day, Gillian's mother is called to school. The lady, sad as someone waiting for bad news, takes her hand and goes to the interview room. The teachers speak of illness, of an obvious disorder. Maybe it's hyperactivity or maybe she needs a medication.

During the interview an old teacher arrives who knows the little girl. He asks all the adults, mother and colleagues, to follow him into an adjoining room from where she can still be seen. As he leaves, he tells Gillian that they will be back soon and turns on an old radio with music.

As the girl is alone in the room, she immediately gets up and begins to move up and down chasing the music in the air with her feet and her heart. The teacher smiles as the colleagues and the mother look at him between confusion and compassion, as is often done with the old. So he says:

"See? Gillian is not sick, Gillian is a dancer!"

He recommends that her mother take her to a dance class and that her colleagues make her dance from time to time. She attends her first lesson and when she gets home she tells her mother:

"Everyone is like me, no one can sit there!"

In 1981, after a career as a dancer, opening her own dance academy and receiving international recognition for her art, Gillian Lynne became the choreographer of the musical "Cats."

Hopefully all “different” children find adults capable of welcoming them for who they are and not for what they lack.

Long live the differences, the little black sheep and the misunderstood. They are the ones who create beauty in this world.

The whole world paused this morning. Do you know why? Because an 8 year old’s tank was empty.

The boys had already started their school day at their desks and I was preparing to leave for work when I noticed my littlest standing in the bathroom wiping his face.

I paused at the door and asked if he was okay. He looked up with tears silently dripping and shook his head. When I questioned if something happened, again he shook his head.

So I sat on the side of the tub and pulled him in my lap. I told him sometimes our heart tanks feel empty and need to be refilled.

He cried into my chest and I held tight.

I asked if he could feel my love filling him up?

A nod, and tears stopped...

I waited a minute...

‘Has it reached your toes yet?’

He shook his head no...

‘Okay man. We will take as long as you need. Work doesn’t matter right now. School isn’t important either. This right here, is the most important thing today, okay? Filling you back to the top. Is that good?’

*nods*

One more minute...

‘Is your heart full of mamas love now?’

‘Yeah...’

*looks in his eyes* ‘I see it shining in there, you’re full to the top, and you’re smiling!’

You may not be 8 - you may be 28, 38, 48 or whatever- but ALL of us run on empty just like he did. His week was so busy and so full and his little soul was just dry!

We all have to pause, and take a moment to refill with the good things. prayer, sunshine, laughter, friends, hugs. Refill your empty, or you’ll find those emotions (tears, anger, snappy words) overflowing with no reason why.

Take a moment. Refill. It’s the most important part of your day!

It’s time to lean in. The gig financial revolution is the biggest opportunity to create wealth since the industrial revolution.

The way we are doing business, buying, selling, and spending our money has dramatically changed over the past 2 years.

You either get ahead of this or get left behind 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I don’t want to see anyone left behind when there is so much opportunity right now. The writing is on the wall for so many businesses and due to crazy, unforeseen circumstances, it’s time to PIVOT.

There is a hybrid of direct selling paired with affiliate marketing and we call it social retail. It’s the only business model of its kind and it’s disrupting the entire online sales industry.

With each month getting better and better, I feel silly not telling people about it as it’s changed my lifestyle in a few short months.

Some fun facts🥳🥳

🙅🏻‍♀️ You don't need to invest 6-figures to build a six-figure business
🙅🏻‍♀️ You don't need to wait 2-3 years to turn a profit
🙅🏻‍♀️ You don't need to reinvent the wheel or develop something new to be successful
🙅🏻‍♀️ Your entrepreneur journey doesn't have to be lonely or a struggle
🙅🏻‍♀️ You don't need to know everything - I certainly didn’t, and I made enough to pay my mortgage and buy groceries my first month.

Instead of mulling it over for months…

🔥 YOU JUST NEED TO START 🔥

👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

Social retail is a business model empowering everyday people, like me and you, to build a massive, profitable online business by sharing their passion and knowledge with the world via social media 🙌🏼

Did you know that 71% of people now engage in social shopping? 📱🛍 That's massive! 🤯 That’s almost 3 out of every 4 people!

Did you know can monetize your social media following and grow your network with our proven, duplicatable system? 🤑

Why does this make sense❓

Because you’re on social media every day anyways, that's why you're seeing this post! 😉

And you’re probably spending $200-300 monthly on these items already, when you could be getting a higher quality product at a discount… or even free… AND you get paid daily to share them.

If you want to know more about what I do working from my phone, in the pockets of my day while running a magazine reach out... I can send you a three minute video to see if this is something that works for you…there’s always room at my table. ❤️

THIS HIT ME HARD.

Have you ever noticed how in the scriptures men are always going up into the mountains to commune with the Lord?

Yet in the scriptures we hardly ever
hear of women going to the mountains.
But we know why — right?

Because the women were too busy
keeping life going;
they couldn’t abandon babies,
meals,
homes,
fires,
gardens,
and a thousand responsibilities to make the climb into the mountains!

I was talking to a friend the other day,
saying that as modern woman
I feel like I’m never “free” enough
from my responsibilities,
never in a quiet enough space
I want with God.

Her response floored me,
“That is why God comes to women.
Men have to climb the mountain to meet God, but God comes to women where ever they are.”

I have been pondering on her words for weeks and have searched my scriptures
to see that what she said is true.
God does in deed come to women
where they are,
when they are doing their ordinary,
everyday work.

He meets them at the wells
where they draw water for their families,
in their homes,
in their kitchens,
in their gardens.

He comes to them
as they sit beside sickbeds,
as they give birth,
care for the elderly,
and perform necessary mourning and burial rites.

Even at the empty tomb,
Mary was the first to witness Christ’s resurrection,
She was there because she was doing the womanly chore of properly preparing Christ’s body for burial.

In these seemingly mundane
and ordinary tasks,
these women of the scriptures found themselves face to face with divinity.

So if — like me — you ever start to bemoan the fact that you don’t have as much time to spend in the mountains with God as you would like. Remember, God comes to women. He knows where we are and the burdens we carry. He sees us, and if we open our eyes and our hearts we will see Him, even in the most ordinary places and in the most ordinary things.

He lives. And he’s using a time such as this to speak to women around the world.
