So many of you have asked about the volunteer work I do at @humanesocietyall, so I decided to bring you along today. One of the aspects of animal rescue that isn't talked about often is cleaning and feeding. While the animals are with us, it's our responsibility to keep them clean, fed, and healthy. Every day, at least two crews of people come in to clean, feed, and medicate all of the cats in the adoption program. We usually only have feral cats for tnr (trap neuter release) for a couple of days. They require different handling and care. Since they are feral, we can't get them in and out to clean. We have to take steps to do the things they need while keeping both ourselves and the cats safe. That's what I'm doing today. Enjoy the glamorous, behind the scenes, of animal rescue. Friends of Normie, or FON, is a foster based cat rescue out of southern California. It was founded in 2020 when two independent cat rescuers came together with one mission, to provide safety and forever homes to stray cats. You all know we recently got a new puppy, @bugsychompers, aka Bugs. What I haven't told you is what an athlete he is. He's managed to jump every single gate I put in his way. We have to have some areas of the house separate for cats only. Its the only way to give them the space and comfort they need. We had to find a different solution. Luckily, we found it! It's @kittykornerdoor! This kitty door is made with a slide lock hinge that can be easily locked open or closed. Bugs doesn't fit through, so we no longer need a gate for that area. The kitties can come and go as they please anytime. But, if I do need to close off that area completely, it's just a simple slide and click to lock it closed. It's literally the best of both worlds. I really appreciate @kittykornerdoor for providing the purrfect solution to our problem. As you can see from the video, no one appreciates it more than Leo! 🤣
There are so many areas of the home where this could be useful. Next, I'm putting one on our bedroom door so we can sleep with the door closed and dogs out. Some privacy at last!! 😉 😜

A moment 10 years in the making! I still can not believe Fluffy is inside after over 10 years as an outdoor feral. She has blown my mind at how well she has acclimated. She had never been in a house before. Ever. Then today, I walk in the feral room, and she's casually chilling in a cat tree. No panic. No fear. Just a relaxed, happy Fluffy girl.
