CASTING NOTICE:
Short Film: SMALL TOWN ROCK STARS

Written and directed by Dave Durbin
Produced by C-FAM - Children's Film Academy of Madison in partnership with Racine Video Production Workshop

We encourage anyone to submit for an audition. You do not have to have the identity of the character to audition for that character. We believe all actors bring something unique and special to any role. Specifically an actor need not identify as gay or straight or undecided to play any role; nor are you required to ever share that information with casting. Filming will be 2 days in May TBD. Please submit a headshot and resume (no experience necessary) to [email protected]

DAVE (14-18): a shy, quiet, insecure kid struggling with his sexuality, self belief and the confinement of a small midwestern city. He’s more intelligent and funny than his environment would allow. This character could be played by a female or female identifying individual.

BEN (14-18): a funny, hip, street smart kid. Far more comfortable and daring with his sexuality and himself than most other kids around him.

CHRIS (17-22): a local, middle class girl who has an interaction with Ben and Dave in the middle of the film.

SUE (17-22): best friend of Chris. She is also part of the interaction with Ben and Dave.

JOCK 1 (14-18): a tough, popular high school quarterback kid who interacts with Ben and Dave in the beginning of the film.

JOCK 2 (14-18): a popular athletic kid included in the early interaction with Ben and Dave.

JOCK 3 (14-18): a popular athletic kid included in the early interaction with Ben and Dave.

LEADER 1 (14-18): a confident high school kid who selects a couple male students for his basketball team.

LEADER 2 (14-18): a confident high school kid also selecting students for his basketball team.

Interesting article on the relevancy of film, has it passed its prime? Thoughts?

"There's a liberation to it, in having your art not be a popular art," the May December actress admitted. "You can really explore what's interesting to you. It becomes much more about passion than about commerce. And interesting, too, to beware of it becoming something elitist. I think all of these art forms, when they become less popularized, you have to start being like, 'OK, who are we making this for anymore?'" Natalie Portman

"If you ask someone my kids’ age about movie stars, they don’t know anyone compared to YouTube stars or whatever," the actress said.
