Would you rate your marriage at a 6 out of 10, or below?

What if, by the end of the year, you could create and implement a roadmap for your perfect marriage and feel more connected to your spouse than ever before?

What if you didn’t have to put, “Build a better relationship with my spouse” on your New Year's resolution in 2023?

Starting today, I’m accepting applications for a scholarship for my 3 month marriage coaching program that normally costs $1500. Applications will be due by the end of the day on Sunday, October 9th.

During the next 3 months, we will work together to discover what you and your partner’s dream marriage looks like, creating a blueprint to get you from where you are to where you want to be, and creating better communication and connection between the two of you along the way.

After the 3 months are over, you’ll have greater confidence and understanding of yourself and your partner, better tools to reframe conflicts that arise in your marriage, and a plan that you can both implement to ensure you are moving in the direction of your epic marriage.

This is your invitation to end the year with an investment in the most important relationship in your life, your marriage.

To apply, fill out the application found at the link in the comments.

If you have questions, feel free to DM me for more info.

It's fairly common for couples to reach "roommate mode" at some point in their marriage.

We get stuck in the day to day routine of paying bills, taxiing children, work schedule, and normal chores around the house.

But we can create ways to move out of roommate mode or even avoid it all together if we are intentional.

It’s difficult to believe that we are already celebrating 50 episodes!

It feels like yesterday when I was just hoping I would get to this point. And now, we’re moving in a direction I never thought I would be in — helping dads and families live a purposeful life through intentional discussions.

This week, as we celebrate wins we also chat about creating identity-based habits to reach the goals you’ve been setting for yourself. Using the journal workbook I’ve created and used to get to where I am, we discuss a step-by-step guide on how you too can move towards your goals and make a lasting impression on your life.

In this episode we talk about:

🔥The importance of aligning your identity with your desired outcomes
🔥Breaking down your life’s purpose into different pillars and creating an identity around those pillars
🔥Creating an identity statement
🔥Taking into account daily habits that you need to get to that identity statement with process goals
🔥Stepping up with your big audacious goals
🔥Tracking wins and measuring backwards with progress notes

Everyone feels stuck, trapped, anxious at some point. But because men are socialized not to express these feelings, many if not all know little on how to deal with it.

Every year most of us make a long list of resolutions. Only to find out after 6 months that most of it doesn't stick.

If you’re like me and you’re ready to pick up where you left off and do things differently this year, you’re in luck because on this week’s episode, we talk about how we can make that change. In particular, how we can shift our big audacious goals to becoming guiding points for what we want our daily habits to become.

This episode talks about the importance of setting up better systems and how it pushes you in the direction of those big audacious goals. And if you’ve experienced a setback, how you can try again and still move towards the person you want to become.

In this episode we talk about:
🔥Why you shouldn’t wait until new year’s to start working on your goals
🔥Recognizing the patterns you’ve set up for yourself in the past and how you can try again
🔥Building daily habits and routines instead of resolutions
🔥Finding joy in small wins
🔥Creating an identity that is consistent with your goals

How do you raise an empowered daughter? And as dads, how can we do that as they’re growing up?

Executive career coach, author, and international speaker, Ashlee Klevens Hayes, grew up hearing her dad say, “go out, do something, get your feet wet.” That might not be the first thing that pops into your head when you’re thinking about how to raise powerful daughters, but he was right.

As men and as dads, we unknowingly hold onto a broad spectrum of beliefs that limit us and rob us of our potential — some stem from the way we were brought up, outside influences or our personal experiences.

We’re joined by Marine veteran speaker, and coach, Ben Killoy to talk about how these limiting beliefs tie back to our careers, independence, families and the relationship we’re building with our kids.

Ben shares the positive impact of a simple hello in his life leading him to being at home within himself and leading his family towards a purpose-driven reality.

In this episode we talk about:

🔥Giving yourself the full permission to just be instead of seeking outside validation
🔥How allowing yourself to see more views gives you depth
🔥The importance of connecting to yourself from the inside and how to do just that
🔥Living a bigger dream and letting it pull you (instead of being dragged by what you don’t have)

David has been a successful entrepreneur, financial advisor, marketing director, and real estate investor, and most importantly, a Dad.

Wanting to pass on his passion for financial literacy to his young boys, Will and Noah, David wrote the book, Golden Quest, by taking all of the elements that kids love in a book (beautiful illustrations, adventure, humor, suspense and fantastical creatures) and mixing in the 5 most valuable lessons about money.

He loves being outdoors with his family, laughing with friends, travelling the world, and connecting over a perfect cup of coffee; what he considers The Awesome Stuff.

Tim Mousseau is a survivor of sexual violence turned educator and advocate on this critical topic. At the age of 22, Tim faced an incident of sexual assault. Coming to terms with his experience, Tim recognized how it left him feeling powerless and ashamed. He vowed no one else should ever feel the same way.

A researcher at heart, Tim began to study how to help prevent violence. His work led him to interview and collect data from men to better understand the traumas we face, how we can effectively speak up about our past experiences, and our responsibilities in using our male identities to better care for the people around us.

For the last nine years, Tim has spoken with over 400 organizations, including Congressional offices, professional athletic teams, and Fortune 1000 companies worldwide.

In this week's episode, I talk with Stanley Dankoski.

Stanley Dankoski is a dad to a 9-year-old daughter who just yesterday said she thought he was the most creative person in the world. They like building LEGO robots and coding with EV3, creating dollhouses and other artsy things out of cardboard boxes, going for hikes up a nearby mountain, planning their annual camping trip, and watching Star Trek while eating dinner. Stanley also channels such creativity into his work, helping heart-centered and purpose-driven nonfiction authors embrace their inner truth and get their book out into the world.

20/10/2021

In each new stage, our kids have new experiences and face new challenges. And as parents, it can sometimes feel as though just as soon as we think we have this whole parenting thing figured out, everything changes.

In our family, we're in the early stages of the teen years. And while I think my kids are pretty amazing, I also want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to support them through this sometimes challenging stage of life.

So in episode 37 of The Epic Dad podcast, I'm talking with Richard Capriola about teen mental health and substance abuse.

Listen in as we talk about:

what warning signs to look for in your teen or pre-teen
how to start the conversation with your child (if you're concerned there is an issue)
the next steps to take if your child is having mental health problems or a substance abuse problem
And more.

Whether your child is in the teen years or that's several years now, listen in to episode 37 for valuable ideas on how to best support your child.

One of my favorite things about social media is that it's like putting notes in bottles and throwing them into the ocean. ⁣

You share something encouraging and never know when it's going to float back to your shores. ⁣

I wrote that line on the photo years ago as a reminder for myself during all the times I felt scared to step out with some new goal, dream or adventure.⁣

It helped me push through a lot of fear, doubt and stress.⁣

But then I forgot it. ⁣

Recently, I saw someone post it and I remembered, "Oh, that's right, it's scary to do things that matter, but you should still try them."⁣

This was a helpful reminder for me. ⁣

I hope it helps you, too.

Even though my oldest just started high school, our family has been talking a lot more about college lately.

Suddenly those "someday" plans don't seem so far off.

And, as is everything with our firstborn, this is new territory. Even though my wife and I both went to college, a lot has changed since then and we want to make sure we're doing everything we can to set our kids up for success.

And this is why I was so excited to talk with this week's podcast guest, Emma Perez. Emma is a mentor who specializes in helping teens and young adults craft who they want to be and how they will impact the world.

Listen to episode 36 as we talk about:

- Questions to ask to help your teen clarify what they want to do
- The pros and cons of taking a gap year
- Various ways to save for college (and how to avoid surprise expenses)

And more!

Whether you have a teen or simply like to plan ahead, episode 36 is full of practical tips that can help you (and your teen) start planning today.

One of the things I love most about The Epic Dad Podcast is having the opportunity to connect with amazing dads and realizing that even though our life experiences might look pretty different - when we're willing to open up, we actually have more in common than we realize.

This week I'm talking with Dan Faill, an accomplished storyteller and international speaker.

Dan shares personal stories that engage and inspire us to be our authentic selves and be brave enough to have the conversations that matter.

Listen in as we talk about:
- Dan's experience with divorce and co-parenting
- The questions to ask when a friend is going through a hard time (and you don't know what to say or do)
- how vulnerability can actually be one of our greatest strengths
- what negative coping mechanisms are and how they might be holding you back

And more! Join us for episode 35 now!

29/09/2021

As we're approaching our 16th anniversary, I can fairly say that my wife and I have had our fair share of ups and downs over the years.

More ups than downs, but one of our greatest challenges has been her mental health - first with postpartum depression, and then ongoing depression and anxiety.

Together, we make sure she gets the support she needs and she's become a strong advocate of speaking up about mental health so that others know they're not alone and it can get better.

At the same time, I know there have been times when I didn't understand her experience or how to best support her. And so I invited her on to the podcast to talk about mental health and how to support your partner if they're struggling.

Whether you're struggling right now or you just want to learn how to better support someone you love, I invite you to take a little time and listen now.
