# 1 - Happiness Bastards - The Black Crowes ☆☆☆☆☆ Released March 15

When I heard the brothers had patched up their differences, and got back together to tour the 30th Anniversary of their debut record. Finally got the tour started because of Covid, and wasn't sure if there was new music on the horizon. When they announced the new album, I was beyond happy. It was well worth the wait. Sounds like the old Crowes.

# 2 - Dark Matter - Pearl Jam ☆☆☆☆☆ Released April 19

The bands 12th album also hints back at the bands earlier sound. More rocking with a slow one or two thrown in for good measure. I love this whole record.

#3 - No Name - Jack White ☆☆☆☆1/2 Released August 2

SURPRISE!! Jack White first blew the minds of shoppers at his Third Man Records store. It was slipped into the bags of shoppers with just a White cover that said 'No Name' a couple weeks before the surprise worldwide release. Little did they know that they were the first listeners to Jack's new album. And OMG, does it flippin' ROCK from front to back! I would have given it a 5 star review, if Meg White was on drums. 😁

#4 - Aghori Mhori Mei - Smashing Pumpkins ☆☆☆☆ Released August 2

This is the album that Smashing Pumpkins fans have been waiting for for a LONG time! It has this throwback feel that sounds like it could have followed Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album. Great riffs, lots of feedback, and Billy Corgan's voice is still in fine fashion.

#5 - The Baker Files - Crack The Sky ☆☆☆☆ Released November 1

This is the only EP on the countdown this year. This incredible 5 song EP from one of my favorite bands, is digging in the archives, going all the way back to the 70's, when it all started. 2025 will be the 50th Anniversary of their debut self titled album. If you want to see a tight prog/rock band, check them out next year on tour. You won't be disappointed!

#6 - Electric Blue Light - Lenny Kravitz ☆☆☆☆ Released May 24

Been a fan of Lenny Kravitz from day 1 as well. Some albums he's released haven't been my favorite of his, but this one, his 12th, is up there in his top 5, I think.

#7- Ten - Mr. BIG ☆☆☆☆ Released July 12

It's sad this band decided to call it quits. I've been a fan since day 1. Guitarist Paul Gilbert and bassist Billy Sheehan, along with singer Eric Martin put out a tremendous last studio offering that rocks. They always have the coolest album covers too.

#8 - Saviors - Green Day ☆☆☆☆ Released January 19

Green Day release their 14th album in January and it harks back to their older style. Just like most of the bands on this list. The last 2 Summers, they toured stadiums and fans seemed to love the new album. Go see them if you get a chance.

This album, their 19th, very well could be in the Top 5 of their catalog. Painkiller vibes. Just brutal metal!

#10 (Tie) The Death Of Slim Shady - Eminem ☆☆☆☆ Released July 12 + Missionary - Snoop Dogg ☆☆☆1/2 Released December 12

Im not a big fan of rap music, but I dig these guys. Two hip hop/ rap legends going old school, taking (dropping) names, and kicking ass. Dr. Dre producing both albums, so you know this is killer and no filler.

#11 (Tie) Luck And Strange David Gilmour ☆☆☆1/2 Released September 6 + Child Within The Man - Sebastian Bach ☆☆☆1/2 Released May 10

David Gilmour releases a fantastic album which sounds a lot like Pink Floyd, and that's fine by me.
Sebastian Bach formerly of Skid Row, is still in prime shape and this album kicks ass. He doesn't need that band anymore, he is doing fine all on his own.

The eleventh studio album from these guys is again, back to original form. It's the 90's all over again and I like it.

#13 - From Zero - Linkin Park ☆☆☆1/2 Released November 15

7 years after the death of frontman Chester Bennington, they recruit Dead Sara vocalist to fill the vacant spot. This album still has legs for me, so I may love this one later, but like most bands that do this (STP, Fuel, Alice in Chains , Queen) the first effort with a new singer is always a hard listen, but usually brings me back to the band. This is a pretty solid album, with just one listen.

#14 - The Surface Seems So Far - Seether ☆☆☆1/2 Released September 20

Seether storms back to form with their latest album. Nice crunchy guitars and in your face rock and roll. Who said ROCK is dead? This proves it's alive and well.

#15 - Here To Eternity - Collective Soul ☆☆☆1/2 Released May 17

I've noticed a lot of older bands from the 90's have gone back to their original sound and Collective Soul is all over it. I still remember the first time I heard the band. I was TV shopping in a store called SILO, and they had their first hit playing on one of the stereos. This is an excellent album!

#16 - Live From Nashville - Nickelback ☆☆☆1/2 Released November 15

This is one kick ass live album. I don't care what anyone says, this band is incredible live! Everything you'd want to hear, plus special guests thrown in for their first foray in the country music scene.

#17 - O**y Of The Damned - Slash ☆☆☆ Released May 17

Slash went back to his original format, opting not to have Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators backing him up, and chose different vocalists. But this time around, the songs are all covers of blues based tunes, such as Steppenwolf's 'The Pusher' sung by Chris Robinson, 'Hoochie Coochie Man' with Billy F. Gibbons, Fleetwood Mac 's 'Oh Well' with Chris Stapleton, just to name a few. Really cool album from Slash.

#18 - The Border - Willie Nelson ☆☆☆1/2 Released May 31

The only country album that's on the countdown. I've always loved Willie Nelson as my dad did. Another one that should be higher on the list, but it was tough this year with the other contenders.
