Wow! Look at what an amazing difference we can make when we work together! The first of the summer community service projects for the youth of Blackford County was a success! The tree beds and flower beds of Weiler Plaza were weeded and mulched, thanks to the efforts of 28 high school students and community members.

A special thank you to the City of Hartford City, Indiana, Build A Better Blackford, The Flip Flop, The Invitation Health and Wellness program, and the JAG program at BJSHS for making this opportunity possible and supporting the young people of our community. We can create change through hard work and collaboration!

Our next project will be July 20. Stay tuned for more details. Please comment below or send a direct message if you have ideas or are interested in participating in our next event!

Teamwork makes the dream work! As part of last Saturday’s Community Clean-Up, a group of volunteers beautified a local property. The amazing before-and-after was made possible because of multiple groups partnering together: City of Hartford City, Indiana Property Standards Board and Board of Works, Petoskey Plastics, and volunteers from Build A Better Blackford and Taylor University. It just goes to show that when we all pitch in, together, we can accomplish a lot.

Junior members of Build A Better Blackford spent their Saturday afternoon walking and rolling-skating along the Blackford Greenway, cleaning up trash as they went. They filled four trash bags, and the Greenway looks neat and tidy thanks to their efforts. It just goes to show that a little teamwork goes a long way, and that you’re never too young to help out your community!
