A few years ago, I tore my ACL.

My ortho surgeon was the same guy who the Chicago White Sox used, so I believed I was in good hands.

After the surgery and 8 weeks of rehab, a shocking realization started to well up in my gut.

Walking down the stairs was difficult.
Putting on my socks required effort.

I know. This is blasphemy for direct marketers. And trust me, this didn’t come naturally for me at first either. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done…

In my opinion, the #1 way to launch any business in today’s age (of crazy competition and very connected consumers) is with CONTENT - not by making an OFFER.

Not forever, just a short time to get things going.
…delayed gratification.

First…
- Deliver value…
- Create a connection…
- Give away your best stuff for free…
- And walk away WITHOUT making an offer…

I get it. You’re thinking Anik has finally lost his damn mind. We direct marketers have been taught for DECADES that every launch should focus on fast ROI. “Monetize those leads as quickly as possible.”

But if you want to build a business that can truly SCALE, you need to ditch that thinking. Get out of the “make money as fast as possible” mindset.

Get into the “build value” one.
Don’t worry - the revenue will follow. But it should NOT be the first priority. Or even the second honestly.

#7 - Launch.

If you’ve been following closely in this group, none of that should surprise you. I’ve been doing it for MONTHS with my compliance business.

And I haven’t sold ONE DAMN THING yet. What have I done?
- I’ve launched my FREE podcast and released hours of content…
- I’ve posted tons of CONTENT in this group that’s actionable and comes from experience…
- I’ve been painfully open and personal about my story and struggles…
- I’ve booked DOZENS of guest spots on other podcasts to grow my audience…
- I’ve sponsored events and shaken as many hands as possible…

None of that has brought in revenue. It’s actually cost me quite a bit.

What have I done?
- Created community…
- Built trust & credibility with my audience…
- Creating EXCITEMENT about what’s coming…

It’s that delayed gratification (and revenue) that we’re after.
